1000 Hour - Day to Night Lash Packs | Daring Twist | Exotic Black*

30 October 2016
1000 Hour's newest releases are the Day to Night Lash Sets, each pack contains two sets of lashes, one designed for day use and one designed for night use, giving you the option to swap your lashes to go from work appropriate to night-out-ready in just a few minutes, I thought the idea was fantastic so when I was asked if I'd like to review them I happily accepted.

When I received these lashes I felt like I didn't want to do a straight up boring review, I wanted to showcase the lashes and to do that I knew I had to create looks to go along with the lashes, so that's exactly what I set out to do and while the review is two months later than I wanted it to be it's finally done! So if you'd like to see the different looks I put together to compliment the lashes, check out the video below.

Each pack retails for $15.99 and contain two sets of lashes and a small bottle of lash glue, the lashes are typical 1000 Hour quality, they have a thick band which I personally prefer, the extra surface area gives me confidence that the lashes aren't going to lift throughout the day/night.

The Daring Twist set features a pair of wispy demi lashes and a pair of thick wispy lashes, for me the bands are very long and since I have small eyes I trim down the full bar night set, whereas the demi lashes in this set are almost a full bar set for me.

The day set add a gorgeous feminine lifting effect to the eye and offer length without being overly dramatic while the night set offer intensity and add a lot of drama to a look, with this set you literally can transform your look from day to night simply by changing your lashes!

The Exotic Black set also contain a pair of demi lashes, these being a little shorter in the band that the Daring Twist set and a full bar set in the same style but with added length and density of lashes.

The demi set are absolutely perfect day lashes, they blend in to the natural lashes well and give the appearance of thicker, healthier lashes with a little extra length on the outer corners which helps to lift the eye and make you look fresh.

The night set offer the same effect but in a more pronounced way, making the whole lash line look thicker, longer and more intense, again a great set to help you go from day to night!

Finally the little lash glue bottles are the best! Latex free adhesive, super sticky and super long lasting, it's even waterproof if you feel like taking a dip!

The 1000 Hour Day to Night Lash Packs retail for $15.99 a pack and are available at Priceline (currently not stocked online), Chemist Warehouse, Coles, Woolworths, Big W, Hairhouse Warehouse and online at 1000hour.com.au

Maslow & Co - October 2016 | The Korea Box

18 October 2016

My most recent Maslow & Co box arrived recently and I was so excited to finally have it in my hands, this box is the Korea edit and it is full to the brim of wonderful Korean beauty goodies!

The Maslow & Co Korea Box contains 10 products and is mask heavy, this is basically what I was expecting and hoping for from this box since Korean beauty is based around treating the skin rather than covering up issues.

Lindsay Modelling Mask in Vitamin - Full Size, RRP $7.00
Other varieties in boxes: Lavender & Collagen
Modelling masks are insanely fun (and just a little messy but totally in a good way). The tub contains a powder that you mix up with a fluid, water is usually recommended but I've heard of people using toner, serum, essence & even whole bottles of ampoule, it becomes a thick paste that you then smooth over the face in a thick layer and allow to dry, it's sets to a consistency that is similar to rubber which you then peel off. I'm so happy to have this, I can not justify buying more masks because I have way too many of them so receiving one in a box means I finally get to have one in my stash but I didn't need to make excuses to buy it!

My Coop Raw Sauce Essence - Full Size 40ml, RRP $19.00
An essence is kind of like a toner and serum in one although you can use it alongside toner and serum if you please, it has consistency that falls right in the middle of fluid toner and serum and generally they have anti-ageing properties as well as promote hydration and help prevent dullness. I love the glass bottle packaging on this one along with the faux wooden cap, very cute!

Monde Reve Angel Wash Cleanser - Full Size 95g, RRP $32.00
A foaming cleanser that is supposed to be gentle enough that it doesn't dry your skin out, this is a new brand to me so I'm very keen to try it out and I definitely have room in my life for more cleansers.

Cremorlab Snow Falls Velvet Toner - Full Size 150ml, RRP $40.00
One item from a selection of 7 products
A simple toner that preps your skin for the rest of your skincare, often Korean toners are hydrating and this is typically the type I like to use and find most effective in my routine, I'm happy to have a new one to try out.

Half Moon Eyes Fruity Wash Off Mask - Full Size 3 x 10ml, RRP $15.00
A bit of an all in one mask, cooling, calming, exfoliating and nourishing single use pod masks, very keen to give these a go!

The next 5 items are all single use sheet masks, these are wildly popular in Korea and I have a stack of them hoarded away but I'm super excited to see one from Neogen and Mizon!

Besone Pink Clay Mask - Full Size, RRP $7.00
Double & Zero Gold Snail Mask - Full Size, RRP $4.00
Papa Recipe Honey Mask - Full Size, RRP $3.00
Neogen Mexican Aloe Essential Mask - Full Size, RRP $4.00
Mizon Enjoy Vital-Up Time Firming Mask - Full Size, RRP $4.00

Total value of contents: $135.00

I absolutely adore this box and the whole service in general, yes it's one of the more expensive Beauty Boxes available in Australia but it's always full of full size items and deluxe samples, the are consistent with ensuring their boxes are accurately themed and the never disappoint me.

The next box will have a global theme and feature 6 items from the 6 countries that have had dedicated boxes since the launch of Maslow & Co!

Tarte - Works of Tarte | Color Wheel Blush Palette | Christmas 2016

Tarte's Holiday 2016 collection, Works of Tarte, has hit the stores here in Australia and while it was on preview sale at Sephora I snapped it up.

The palette contains 10 pans, 6 matte blushes, 2 shimmery blushes and 2 highlights, all 2.4g each with a total of 24g of product in the palette. The palette retails for $65.00AUD making the value work out to $2.70 per gram, single Tarte Amazonian Clay Blushes contain 5.6g of product, retail for $38.00AUD and work out to $6.78 per gram. Value is good.

Aesthetically speaking the palette isn't really my cup of tea but that's a very personal thing and obviously things like that don't actually prevent me from purchasing products that I'm interested in, for me it's what's inside that counts.

Functionally the palette is well designed, you have a clam shell style palette with 5 shades on each side, separating them is a plastic sheet that is perforated at the base which allows you to move it to either side depending on what shades you want to use, it doesn't flip back or slip out meaning it's never a pain in the ass and it's always there to protect your shades when the palette is closed, all double sided palettes should have one of these.

The formula of the blushes and highlights are really quite nice, I know a lot of people are wary of brands who manufacture their holiday collections in China and rightfully so, I've got the Tarte Holiday 2015 Eyeshadow palette and it's a little bit of a dud, it's usable and some shades are great but I don't think it compares to the Tartelette palette I own. With this particular blush palette I'm happy with the quality, I think the pigmentation is nice without being so intense that it's difficult to work with, they build well, blend beautifully and wear all day.

I would say they are a little soft (most of them anyway, but I'll get in to specifics with the swatches), which makes them seem a bit powdery but they don't kick up product when I tap a brush in the pan. The highlights are subtle but buildable and offer a natural glow rather than a metallic sheen.

When it comes to shade range this is probably where I personally have issues with the palette, I'll get in to the specifics as I go through the swatches.

One side of the palette is what I like to call the 'Summer/Spring' shades, these are bright, light pinks and coral with a champagne highlight that has a subtle rose hint to it.

Surreal - This is straight up barbie doll pink, I find the formula of this one to be a bit firmer and my brush doesn't pick up as much product as some of the other shades, this does however make it an easy shade to use because it goes on as a soft flush and can easily be built up if I'm filming or wearing heavier makeup and need more colour intensity.

Deco - Another one with a firmer formula, this one is a bit more of a coral pink and I find it just a little bit more wearable than Surreal because of the warmer undertones.

Mod - This is a gorgeous peach shade that I've been gravitating heavily towards, it offers warmth and a natural flush that is really pretty.

Culture - Mid toned pink with a gold shimmer, very much like Nars Orgasm just more pink and less gold shimmer.

Idol - This is the darker highlight in the palette, it's kind of like a peach champagne with a hint of pink, very pretty!

The other side of the palette has more of an Autumn/Winter feel for me and it features plum shades predominantly.

Ironic - The darkest of the plum shades with a hint of red, slightly firmer formula but pigmentation is a little more intense.

Montage -Plum with a purple hint, again slightly firmer but good pigmentation.

Icon - Plum with a hint of pink, the lighter of the plum shades with a soft formula.

Concept - Peachy bronze with a gold shimmer which is subtle enough that it can be used as a sculpting blush.

Crafty - Light champagne highlight with a hint of pink.

Personally this is a winner for me, the shades are so wearable, even the barbie pink that I wouldn't usually gravitate to is working for me and I just find it so easy to work with and use, it's one of those palettes I can pick up and feel confident that nothing is going to go wrong during application and I won't be at risk of clown face.

The Tarte Works of Tarte Color Wheel Palette retails for $65.00AUD is stocked online at Sephora Australia (currently unavailable, will update when back in stock) and in Sephora Australia stores.
