Because why not?

Blogmas 2015 Day 23 - Sampled Out 2016 Intro

23 December 2015
So you are all very aware that I like to finish beauty products. You have seen me use up hundreds and hundreds of beauty items in the last few years of blogging. Last year alone I used up 115 full size items and that doesn't include sample and single use items like sheet masks.

You have seen me struggle through things I hate and absolutely demolish things I love, this year you saw me do a year long makeup only (oh and perfume!) Project Pan. This will all continue in 2016 but I'll be making room in my beauty life for another panning project. Sampled Out 2016.

If you've never heard of a Sampled Out challenge then let me explain, this is where you take all of your sample size products and use them until they are finished before the end of the year.

I've done my sample count and at the time of filming the intro video it was only at 396 (which is teeny tiny compared to a lot of other people who did Sampled Out 2015). I can tell you that in just the week or so since filming it I have gathered quite a few more samples thanks to Advent Calendars and no doubt throughout the rest of the year I will accumulate more.

This will be a YouTube only project, simply because I'm trying to be smart about time management in 2016, video updates will be uploaded to the blog but I won't include photos or any significant writing because it will be extremely time consuming, I hope you can understand!

I have decided that updates will be around the 15th of each month, I know I said in the video that I would be updating at the end of the month but with empties, project pan and hopefully favourites all being at the end of the month it's a lot to deal with considering that these are photo, writing and editing heavy, if I can smash out a quick Sampled Out update in the middle of the month it will be a little less pressure!

With each update I will let you know the amount of samples I used up, show you the stand outs and flops and have a quick run through of the meh stuff. I'll also let you know the amount of new samples I received and leave you with my final tally.

With all my panning projects this year (Empties, Project Pan & Sampled Out) I will be doing a value tally, basically letting you know the value of the item used and keep a running tally of all the items I have used up during 2016, I know samples are generally free and a lot of my products come from value shopping like GWP and sales but I thought it would be a fun little experiment.

I really want to encourage my readers and viewers to join me in doing the Sampled Out 2016 challenge! There is pleanty of time to get your samples together, count them up and welcome 2016 with a 'use it up' attitude! I know many people who update on Instagram and Facebook, many of them create second IG accounts simply for posting their panning projects. If you choose to join in let me know how you will be updating so I can follow you!

Links provided are for shopping examples only, I have personally purchased from some (not all) of these online stores but I highly recommend researching before buying. Items marked * were sent to me for trial and consideration, all other products were purchased by myself and I am in no way affiliated with any of the companies mentioned unless otherwise stated. All opinions are my own and based on my personal experience. Integrity Always..

  2. This is a great idea! I'll be following this with interest. :o) I tend to give away all the samples I get, but sometimes I'll keep them if I know I'll use them. Not much point holding on to them if I don't think I'll use them.
