Benefit - Puff Off & The Porefessional License To Blot*

5 March 2015
At the recent Glamour Affair event we had some ladies from Benefit chat to us about some new releases, Puff Off and License To Blot.

If you prefer to watch, here is the related video

Puff Off is Benefit's newest instant eye treatment product, the idea is to smooth it on for instant de-puffing and smoothing results.

The cream comes in a squeezy tube with a customised iron shape applicator tip, metal tips are designed to offer a cooling effect but I find they warm up too quickly with my body heat to be effective, what makes Puff Off slightly different is the fact that it contains an ingredient called Menthoxypropaneidiol, this stuff is twice as strong as menthol and often used in lip plumping products, it can be an irritant for those with sensitive skin but it's a low dose in this product and I find it helps the cooling effect of the tip to actually be effective.

Other ingredients that are very effective in this little tube are Isohexadecane and Nylon-12, the first being a skin conditioner that smooths and softens while the latter acts like a perfect second skin, preventing anything you apply over the top from moving in to fine lines or creasing.

The formula is nice and light and the consistency is creamy but absorbs really quickly leaving the skin soft and well prepped for makeup application while also soothing puffiness.

I'm loving this cream, in the last few years fine lines and puffiness has reared it's ugly head and this stuff helps to prep my eyes for the day ahead. Would definitely repurchase.

License to Blot is Benefit's answer to 'embarrassing' oil blotting sheets.

The idea with this product is to just smooth it on over oily skin and makeup and off you go, no need to blot or worry about oil for up to 6 hours.

The product comes in a triangular tube with a twist up mechanism.

The shape of the product is the genius part of this product, it works well for getting in to all those little spaces that are prone to oil build up like the chin and around the nose but also large enough for applying to the forehead quickly.

The problem with this product is that it uses silicones and waxes to mattify the skin but doesn't actually absorb oil in any way, so you're just layering a mattifying product over a layer of oil, after a couple hours your oil eats this product along with your makeup and you have a thick goopy mess of yuck on your face.

Also application is not as simple as smooth-it-on-and-off-you-go, you'll have to fix the foundation that it moved when applying or you'll be left with streaky lines on your face.

I don't like this product, it messes up my makeup, feels thick and heavy and only masks the oil for an hour or so. Would not repurchase.

Not a fan of the License to Blot though- I feel like it takes off all my makeup too!
