Because why not?

Memebox - Thanksgiving Box Collection #2 For You*

12 January 2015
No too long ago Memebox released two boxes for Thanksgiving, 'For Me' & 'For You', the idea was you would have a box for yourself and one to give to a friend. I didn't order either box because I couldn't afford them at the time but just a few days before New Years Eve the DHL man arrived at my door with a pretty pink mailer and inside was the Thanksgiving For You Box. I was so excited.

The Thanksgiving boxes come with a specially printed box, I'm really excited to have one of these finally, all my Memeboxes are the standard pink box, while this is a beautiful bright orange. I'll be hanging on to this box.

Oh Memebox, I love you too.

The box contains 8 full size products and is more makeup heavy but for me it's the perfect combination of lovely goodies.

#1 Vivito Illust Lumiere Primer 30ml Full Size RRP $50

This is an illuminating primer that helps to hydrate the skin. It uses Lavender water and Bergamot Leaf extract to sooth and prime, it also has an 'elastic, smoothing powder' to control excess oil while concealing pores and fine lines.

During the summer my skin has a tendency to look like that of a greasy 16 year old that hasn't learnt the basics of skin care so I haven't been using this regularly. It does however look really nice under foundation and isn't just an illuminator pretending to be a primer, it actually does prep the skin nicely and helps with longevity of my makeup but I don't believe it controls oil at all, I'll be using this heavily in winter when my skin is on the dryer side and looking a bit duller because it's a damn nice primer that illuminates subtly.

Skin pre setting powder.

#2 Shara Shara Miracle Multi Cream 50ml Full Size RRP $18

This uses extracts from 30 different types of plant oils and an be used on the body face or hair!

I was shocked when I opened this up and found it was a balm! I started using this on my feet which seriously hate me at the moment (if my face shared some of it's oil with my feet and stopped being such a selfish shit I wouldn't have an issue at all). The balm melts when it comes in contact with warm skin and it's not super thick, a little goes a long way and it has a really nice, fresh lime sent. Also that packaging!!!

#3 Shara Shara Brush Set RRP $24

I was so exited when I found this in the box, after washing and drying the brushes it went straight in to my travel bag for new years. Unfortunately though I feel like this is a bit of a flop set. The powder brush is a bit stiff and not what I would consider good quality, then there are two flat brushes that I feel are best for concealer only, they don't play well with eye shadows. The foam shadow brush is kinda cool because the applicator can be replaced (pictured) but I'm not really keen on those types of applicators for anything aside from smudging liner and finally the lip brush which is the winner in the set.

#4 Vivito Painting Sweet Lip Balm 12g Full Size RRP $24
Randomly selected from Orange Farm, Grape Farm
Colour Received: Orange Farm

When I saw that I had received the orange option I was sad, I'm loving all things orange at the moment but the colour simply doesn't suit me. When I first tried this it totally surprised me, it's not a balm but a thick gel and it transforms from a subtle orange tint to a gorgeous wearable pink that stains the lips. It smells like fresh oranges and is a little bit sticky which I usually don't like but it helps it to stay on the lips for so long and keeps the lips feeling really hydrated and soft. Korean lip products continue to surprise me.

#5 Peripera Heart Glow Stick 02 Gold Aura 6.5g Full Size RRP $14

This isn't your average highlighter, it contains hyaluronic acid, marine collagen and deep ocean water!

The first time I used this I applied way too much and it kind of turned me off, it's surprising how user error can effect our opinion of a product. The next time I used it I was super careful and all turned out well, this highlighter is easy to blend and offers a pretty gold reflection to the skin, I'll likely get quite a bit of use out of this in winter or even summer if I an get my damn skin grease under control because it works beautifully with cream blushes.

Teeny tiny bit of highlighter applied to cheek bones.

#6 With Shyan Nail Lacquer 15ml Full Size RRP $4
Randomly selected from Blue Violet, Neon Green, Pink Lady, Neon Purple
Colour received: Blue Violet

The pigment of this polish is so surprising, one coat perfection. Unfortunately I didn't find it to be particularly long lasting on me (although it doesn't claim to be) but even OPI struggles on my nails, the colour is gorgeous, the packaging is very Deborah Lippmann-esque and if I'm careful with my nails I can get about 3 days without chipping, the opacity alone makes me want to buy more of these.

#7 Saracen Fluorescent Glitter 13g Full Size RRP $6
Randomly selected from Silver, Gold, Blue, Black
Colour Received: Blue

I had no idea what I was going to do with this glitter, I considered dumping it in a bottle of clear polish and then remembered how that usually turns out so I opted to keep it for nail art instead. It works well for that purpose.

#8 Pure Smile Essence Mask Sheet x2 23ml Full Size RRP $2

Ahhh sheet masks! I'm a bit of a fan of Pure Smile, they are inexpensive but make quite nice masks. I used the milk essence mask and it was nice and hydrating, these are going on my next mask haul list.

Cost of box: $26USD + $6.99USD Shipping
Memevalue: $144USD

The winner of this box for me is the primer, it's so damn nice and I'm usually a bit fickle when it comes to primers, I just wish my skin wasn't so oily at the moment so I could use it more regularly.
