Because why not?

Blogmas - Saturday Sample bareMinerals 5 In 1 BB Advanced Performance Cream Eyeshadow SPF15

13 December 2014
I received a sample of the bareMinerals 5 In 1 BB Advanced Performance Cream Eyeshadow SPF15 in my July 2014 Mecca Beauty Loop Box (unboxing) and while the sample is a good generous (and cute) size, I really felt like the product was stupid and gimmicky.

Essentially this is a cream eye shadow but it's supposed to be long-wearing, act as a primer, have ingredients that brighten the skin over time, smooth out skin texture and protect your skin with SPF.

I believe the full size products come with a similar doe foot applicator which is super flexible so it glides over the skin and doesn't unnecessarily tug at the eyelid, the formula is quite pigmented on mine (Barely Nude is the colour), it's a nude (derp) with a warm pink undertone and I consider it to be a matte base with silver shimmer that is only noticeable when you blend it out.

I've used this a few different ways and I find the best way to use it is to apply with the applicator it comes with and blend it out with a fluffy blending brush, it helps the colour payoff and I get a nicer blend whereas if I use my finger it just looks a bit blergh and as it starts to set I experience a lot of eye tugging nastiness going on.

The product does set quite quickly so you definitely need to apply it to one eye and blend before going on to the next. It also creases on me when I wear it on it's own but when I use it as a primer it works really well and I have no problems with it.

Yes, I know I need to do something about those bloody brows, if anyone has the power to add more hours to the day I'd really appreciate at least 5 more!
As for the protect, brighten and smooth features I can't really comment, I've never had sun burnt eyelids so I assume they are quite protected regardless of this product and the brightening and smoothing definitely aren't a thing that I have experienced but if I look at the undertones of the product I can comfortably say that it offers some brightening effects for dark lids on a temporary basis.

At the end of the day I still think calling this a BB eye shadow is pretty stupid but as a primer I really like this stuff, I might even consider repurchasing it because it's quite affordable but I certainly wouldn't expect it to do any more than hold my shadow on for the day. If you're curious about the product I'd definitely recommend popping in to Mecca and asking for a little sample pot to take home

bareMinerals 5 In 1 BB Advanced Performance Cream Eyeshadow SPF15 retails for $24AUD and is available at Mecca Cosmetica and Maxima stores and online.
