Because why not?

Morning Skin Care Routine.

3 November 2014
Wanna see what I do to my face every morning? I know, it's riveting stuff but I need an excuse to do some short reviews of products I'm currently using.

The Cleanse.

La Roche-Posay Effaclar Purifying Foaming Gel* - This is a clear gel like foam wash which is nearly fucking impossible to squeeze out of the tube, it foams up and cleans your skin really well, shocker. The pH of this product is 5.5 so it helps to maintain the skins normal acidity levels during cleansing which in turn allows your skin to naturally fight of bacteria and gross shit that you don't want so if you have problems with acnaic skin this is likely to help in the sense of allowing your skin to fight it's own battles, if some of your skin problems are related to an off kilter pH this will give your skin the opportunity to sort that out.

Dermalogica Daily Microfoliant (review) - If my skin is feeling a little blah I'll use this instead of the La Roche-Posay cleanser but to be honest I don't find I need it very often since I started using the Blithe Patting Water which you'll see coming up soon.

The Prep.

Puretopia Refresh & Balance Hydrating & Soothing Facial Mist & Toner - I love Puretopia products but this is a bit 'nothing' for me. Being in a spray bottle it's easy to apply but I also have this thing where I don't like spraying shit in my hair that isn't made for my hair, I have to cover up whenever I use it because my hair always feels damp after I've done the squinty face while spritzing like a mad woman. The toner is refreshing but balancing, moisturising and soothing are boxes that aren't ticked for me, it's got some ok ingredients and certainly isn't a shit product but for me I'm only using it because I want to finish it off, there will be no love lost when this is empty.

Blithe Patting Water Pack Energy Yellow Citrus & Honey - Ohh this stuff! This is kind of like a toner/kind of like an essence/kind of like a chemical exfoliant, I think I'm going to do a full review on this one because I've really enjoyed it and I'm likely to buy the others in the range. Basically I just pre-mix this with a little filtered water and pat a small amount on to my face after toning and allow it to absorb and do it's thing. Lovely. LOVELY!

Innerface Shy Blossom Soothing Serum - This is a soothing facial serum that I received in a Memebox (unboxing), I've got a few to use up but I opted for this one because of the hyaluronic acid and aloe, although my skin isn't exactly sensitive right now it always responds well to those particular ingredients and coming in to summer I wanted to help clear up some of the redness that I had going on, which I assume it's doing because a lady asked me for ID the other day and after I gave it to her and told her I'll be 30 next month she said I had beautiful skin (no makeup day). I rejoiced inside.

The End.

La Roche-Posay Effaclar Duo (review) - I'm just trying to use this up but to be honest it doesn't really do a whole lot for me, it's a nice light cream which I like and can be good under my more dewy foundations but I just don't really care for it, day creams haven't been doing a whole lot for me lately but if it doesn't break me out I will always stick with them until they are finished.

Live CleanSoothing Daily Moisturiser - I'm going to do a little Live Clean brand roundup soon, I have a few of their products but none are really worth a whole post on their own, guess that tells you what I think of this. Again just trying to use it up.

Olay Regenerist Revitalising Hydration Cream SPF15 - Ughhhh this stuff. This is a tiny little sample pot and I received a whole bunch of them, after using this one for a few days I gave away the others because this stuff is shit. Creams like this are the sole reason that I hate SPF in moisturisers, it's so greasy I can't stand it. I will eventually finish this off but it probably won't be until early 2015.

Aveeno Positively Radiant Eye Illuminator - I just started using this so I can't say much for results but I pretty much hate it already. On the bottle it says 'For external use only. If product gets into eyes, rinse thoroughly with water'. Are you fucking kidding me? It's an eye cream, sorry, scrap that, it's an eye illuminating fluid, it has quite a runny consistency. If you are using an EYE product that is runny around your EYE'S then there is a good chance, at some point, that you will accidentally get it in your DAMN EYE. So why does it seem like a good idea to put ingredients in there that aren't eye safe? Sometimes I am baffled by the stupidity of people who create these products.
Also, I did get it in my eye and it burns like Satan stuck his pitch fork in there.
And the packaging is stupid.

Do you keep using products that you hate just to use them up?

  1. I want me some of that Blithe Patting Water! Sometimes I hate my compulsion to finish products even if I'm feeling a little meh about them. I just can't bring myself to throw them out. I might as well, because I am happy to use way more than I need to ge through it quicker, lol

    1. Ohhh Indie I love the Blithe!! The change has been slow and gradual but the brightness and texture of my skin is so much nicer!

I use more product to rush through them quicker too, sometimes I even re-purpose them and start using them on my body, I just hate to waste them!

  2. I'm guilty of not doing this. If I don't like it, I don't like it & it either gets given away or just sits in my wardrobe forever & a day until I decide what to do with them....the latter of which is happening right now with several products that I've used or swatched (some nail polishes, a few lip crayons/tints, some hair stuff), but don't like.

Read the unboxing for that Innerface Shy Blossom Soothing Serum...the slight Engrish description on the box had me intrigued haha. Could be handy to have in my skincare arsenal.

    1. I don't feel so bad about not using makeup that I don't like but then again it all ends up in my kit and I use it in situations where the product is suitable so it all eventually gets used but when it comes to skin care, unless it breaks me out, I just have to use it.. This usually leads to me having a deep hateful resentment towards the product or brand haha!

the Innerface serum has been great, it's so light and non greasy so I've been loving it for hot days and just under makeup in general, I'm really glad I received that in a Memebox.
