Memebox - Superbox #55 Free From Oil & Trouble 4*

13 November 2014
Memebox kindly sent Free From Oil & Trouble 4 for review, thank you again Memebox!

This box is aimed at dealing with pesky spots and oily skin, my skin has been quite good recently but oil is an issue for me, also the day after I received the box I had a break out from a day on the booze, we can thank Spring Carnival for that.

#1 Insobeau Acnic Blemish Spot Solution 15ml Full Size RRP $20
This is a red spot and pimple treatment product, you just dip a cotton tip in to the sediment and then dab on spot and red patches.
I have used a similar product to this and it failed miserably for me, this wasn't any different, my skin simply doesn't respond to this type of product when it comes to spot fighting which is a shame, I was hoping this one would be more effective for me.

#2 Pro You Aroma AC Cream 60g Full Size RRP $54.
This contains green tea, grapefruit, machilla and thujopsis dolabrata extract which help to tighten up large pores and control sebum while juniper berry, lavender and tea tree essential oils help to sooth and purify the skin.

This cream feels really thick and rich but is surprisingly powerful when it comes to controlling oil, it smells of tea tree which I really like in products especially when my skin is in a bad place. Unfortunately I didn't see an improvement in pores though this makes a fantastic makeup base and made my blotting sheets redundant.

#3 The Skin House Dr. Clear Magic Toner 130ml Full Size RRP $25.
This toner uses tea tree extracts to control oil and clear blemishes, it has a super fine mist which I love and I've been really enjoying this, I'm not sure what's supposed to be magic about it but it works well so will stay in my routine. I'll even keep the bottle when it's empty for those toners in shitty spurt-y spray bottles.

#4 Benenet Herb & Bee A.C Control Serum 60ml Full Size RRP $38.
You guys know how much I love my bee venom stuff and this is no exception, this clear liquid gel contains citrus extracts, eucalyptus, sophora root and clove flower to help balance skin.

I really like this but the packaging is a bit dodgy, when I try to pump it out it has a violent shooting action and I've squirted it across my desk a few times. Packaging aside it's been great on my oily T-zone, while I love hydrating serums they can be a bit heavy during the warmer weather so this will come in handy.

#5 Lindsay Linzy Egg Pack 60g Full Size RRP $12.
So this is a blackhead and pore controlling cleansing kit in the shape of eggs. The white egg is made of egg whites and witch hazel which cleanse impurities and the red egg contains red clay which helps to tighten pores.

When I first used these I expected my skin to feel super dry and stripped, mostly because that's the memory I have of washing my face with soap as a child and as I was rinsing my face it felt squeaky clean, which is usually a bad sign. Well, if I was ever going to be wrong of course it was going to be after I used egg shaped soaps from Korea!! My skin felt baby soft and not dry at all, these really surprised me, I think they are a little unconventional and can be time consuming to use but I must admit they were fun and performed better than expected. Also they look like real bloody eggs!

#6 IdeeB Goodbye Oil Pact 12g Full Size RRP $12
This is a pressed translucent powder which is supposed to be used to control oil throughout the day. I used this with the included puff and really disliked it, I had white powdery patches on my face and it clung to dry skin, I had to pat over and over to work the product in and it was just plain frustrating. On my next use of the product I tried applying with a fluffy brush and got a much nicer application, it controls oil and shine really well but has a pretty strong floral scent which just isn't my thing, I don't really like my facial makeup to smell of anything. I will likely use this (minus the puff), especially on nights out but it's not going to be my go-to daily product.

I used all of these products in conjunction with each other, swapping out my whole routine for this box except for my eye cream, I noticed straight away that my oil was under control and even had to stop using everything and wait a few days for the oiliness to return just so I could test out the oil blotting powder, the contents worked too well! I'll be using these product in conjunction with my normal products rather than as a group because I'm not oily enough for them all!
