Because why not?

Mecca Cosmetica - Beauty Loop Box Level 1 October 2014.

1 November 2014
If you aren't sure what a Beauty Loop box is then I suggest you check out Mecca's info page.

I trotted off to Mecca Maxima in Melbourne Central recently to pick up my Beauty Loop Box and a couple other items that I had been coveting (I finished my 50 products for Project Pan by this point, not that it stopped me when it came to Memeboxes..).

I actually made two stops on my trip, one at Maxima and one at Cosmetica, my box was collected at Maxima and then I was informed that I could also pick it up at a Cosmetica store but the samples would be different, good to know for the future.

Anyway.. Contents.

Josie Maran 100% Pure Argan Oil + !00% Pure Argan Oil Light.
I tried the light oil out while I was in store and it seemed really nice, I'm glad I get to try both variants but holy fucking foil packets Batman!

Nars Smudge Proof Eyeshadow Base.
Eye primer in a foil packet. Is there anything more stupid?

Hourglass Veil Primer SPF 15.
Heard good and bad things about this primer and vaguely remember swatching it and not feeling like it was anything special but I will be interested in trying it properly under makeup. Another foil packet. Just don't.

Kate Somerville Exfolikate.
This is a physical and chemical exfoliant in one, I've been curious about this product so I'll use it but my god, could they be any stingier?

I like the products that are included in the box but I am legitimately embarrassed for the Cosmetics Cubed company with this one. When I make an order on the Mecca website I can choose up to three samples with every order, these boxes are supposed to be a thank you to customer loyalty.

Australian companies need to step up their game, one shitty foil packet of a product is not enough to convince me to buy a product unless that product shits on everything else I've tried and does it in just one application and let's face it; that doesn't happen often.

This box doesn't make me feel like I need to tell you to go buy things at Mecca so you can qualify. I think my train fare cost more than this box was valued at.

Would you have been happy with this box or do you think foil packets are stupid too?

Links provided are for shopping examples only, I have personally purchased from some (not all) of these online stores but I highly recommend researching before buying. Items marked * were sent to me for trial and consideration, all other products were purchased by myself and I am in no way affiliated with any of the companies mentioned unless otherwise stated. All opinions are my own and based on my personal experience. Integrity Always..

  1. I would expect more than little sample packets too. I got the Level 2 box, it was a bit better - but not really as good as I was hoping. Love your blog, Kathryn :)

    1. I need to spend more to get past level 1 but in all honesty I still think the higher level boxes aren't up to par for what people are spending!

  2. Wow, that's a bit crap, I'd expect a lot more from Mecca!

    1. They do! I've tried a few products in sample sachets that I've absolutely loved and gone out to buy the full size of but mostly they just turn me off and I can't be bothered with them, I wish companies would work it out!!

  4. No way would I be happy with this! Even though it's a sample box, the content inside just isn't enough for one to gauge an opinion of the product, nor is it exciting. 4 crappy foil packets & that's it...I'd expect that from a magazine, not from a well-reputed beauty retailer.

    1. You're spot on! Even most magazine samples are more generous that this!!
