Because why not?

Josie Maran - Argan Love Your Lips Hydrating Lipstick.

17 November 2014
Mecca recently started stocking Josie Maran Cosmetics and the Argan Love Your Lips Hydrating Lipstick caught my eye instantly.

This is essentially an argan based lip conditioner with a tint, except it looks fucking awesome.

"Love your lipstick to the core. This 3-in-1 formula offers the shine of a gloss, pigment of a lipstick, and hydration of a balm. The clear outer core adds shine and moisture with Argan Oil, while the inner core saturates lips in colour."

The lipstick comes in 6 colours, I was struggling with my colour choice but opted for Happy Honey because I'm more inclined to wear a MLBB colour daily rather than a bright or plum. The colour choice was perfect for me.

Happy Honey is my perfect nude and I find that I'm constantly reaching for it because it's the first nude that doesn't make me look like I died a few days ago.

Visually the lipstick is pretty awesome, the clear outer layer and the coloured core are eye catching, the soft rose gold packaging is stunning and sadly, this is where the good stuff ends.

The formula isn't long lasting at all but it doesn't claim that it is so I can't gripe about that, if you don't like to re-apply every hour or so you're going to have a huge problem with this.

Also, it's not hydrating. Personally, when I apply a 'hydrating' product 5-6 times in an 8 hour period I expect my lips to feel and look pretty fucking bangin' but my lips actually feel dryer after this wears off. Also it tastes faintly of chemicals, so not licking your lips is advised.

  • Happy Honey is a gorgeous colour
  • The packaging is so fucking pretty
  • It's not hydrating
  • It doesn't last long on the lips
  • It doesn't taste great
  • It's an expensive tinted lip balm that doesn't.. balm.
I'm so glad that I went with my gut when choosing the colour because it's the only thing that actually makes me want to use this product, if I was getting these results with a standard lip balm I would have thrown it in the bin by now. I won't be buying any more of these and I'd highly recommend sanitising the tester in store and having a SA apply it before you commit to a purchase because argan oil clearly doesn't work for everyone.

Josie Maran Argan Love Your Lips retail for $27AUD and can be purchased at Mecca Cosmetica & Mecca Maxima.

What do you think? Is it worth the $27 just for pretty packaging and a perfect nude or would you expect it to live up to it's hydrating claims?

Links provided are for shopping examples only, I have personally purchased from some (not all) of these online stores but I highly recommend researching before buying. Items marked * were sent to me for trial and consideration, all other products were purchased by myself and I am in no way affiliated with any of the companies mentioned unless otherwise stated. 1. Given how chapped my lips can get and how frequently I have to apply lip balm, I would want more bang for my buck in terms of hydration that's for sure. That said, I spent about $26US on Bite Beauty's Agave Lip Mask (the original) whilst in the US recently, but that stuff's the & well worth the price tag (I only use it at night before bed though, it's too thick for daytime use) - I swear I wake up in the morning with smoother lips. Plus it smells like McDonald's chocolate fudge sundaesn (IMO), so it's a win all around, unless you're not into sweet smelling beauty goods. Thankfully I got to test it beforehand in Sephora and felt that it would work.

I just can't deal with thinner balms overall - they dry my lips out too much & the constant re-application can be a drag. Not looking at you, Burts Bees tinted lip balm that I badly want to finish, totally breaking my "if I don't like it, I won't keep using it" mantra...
