Because why not?

Saturday Sample - SK-II Facial Treatment Essence.

25 October 2014
I'm loving essences at the moment, I've always been of the opinion that they were a bit useless but I've used a few lately that I really liked so I'm eating my words like Cookie Monster.

Today I'm not talking about a good essence though, no, that would be too boring.. Today I'm going to talk about a really famous one that is shit.

The SK-II Facial Treatment Essence is a majorly expensive bottle of Galactomyces. This clear liquid should be applied after toning by either patting on to the skin or wiping on with a cotton pad.

SK-II say this contains about 90% Pitera, Pitera is known as Saccharomycopsis Ferment Filtrate and comes from a certain type of yeast and is also a trademarked ingredient of SK-II. When you read the ingredient list on your bottle of FTE it might say Galactomyces Ferment Filtrate which in reality is slightly different but does the same damn thing. It offers a little extra hydration to the skin and there is a possibility that it is good for preventing pigmentation, but there isn't any solid proof of that yet.

This product pisses me off because you are paying $100AUD for a yeast fermentation by-product that has been trademarked but offers no real proof that it is 'better' than others like it and it smells like stinky feet.

I've read a lot of reviews for this product during my research phase to try and work out what the fuck this is even supposed to do and you know what I saw over and over and over in these reviews? Consumers/users were being told that the essence works best with other SK-II products. So first you buy a $100 bottle of something that smells like foot sweat and then you spend another $500-$600 on the other SK-II products that will allow this product to work? Don't try to feed me bull shit and call it chocolate cake.

SK-II say "..this much loved miracle water is a must-have for healthy, radiant skin. It helps maintain the skin's natural renewal cycle to it's optimum conditions to allow skin nourishment, It also works to balance the skin's pH and sebum secretion, so oily and dry areas are properly moistrised." If you take out all the blah blah crap it basically says that it moisturises the skin.

I saw no results with this essence, I didn't notice an increase in hydration or sebum control and my skin doesn't look any more radiant. All I noticed was that it smells like feet and has a stupid price tag.

What smelly products do you dislike?

Links provided are for shopping examples only, I have personally purchased from some (not all) of these online stores but I highly recommend researching before buying. Items marked * were sent to me for trial and consideration, all other products were purchased by myself and I am in no way affiliated with any of the companies mentioned unless otherwise stated. All opinions are my own and based on my personal experience. Integrity Always..

  1. I hate the smell of the Ponds Whitening BB cream and absolutely despise the Skin Physics Anti-ageing BB cream, they both have the most horrid chemical smell that I just can't bear to have them on my skin
