Because why not?

Memebox - Global #14.

5 September 2014

If you aren't already familiar with Memebox it is a beauty box service with a difference, instead of receiving a monthly box for a set price you order only the boxes you want, they have a monthly Global Box along with themed boxes. The upside of Memebox is that you have the option of grabbing a Global Box which contains a mixture of anything related to hair, skin and makeup or if you have a more specific obsession like face masks or products containing collagen you can buy the themed boxes. Another benefit is that most of the products are full sized and you really do feel like you are getting major bang for your buck. The down side is that almost everything is in Korean so you'll have to hang on to the info cards so that you know what you're using.

I'm not sure about you guys but I love experimenting, finding new products and experiencing another country in the comfort of my own home and Memebox supplies that to me for a modest price. It's like crack for beauty addicts.

Single Memeboxes are packaged in an adorable pink bubble pack envelope and have an easy open mechanism, simply grab the two edges where the bag is heat sealed and pull, they will separate with a little force and you will have easy access to your box of joy.

I ordered this Memebox along with Global #15 & #16 about 3 months ago (before my project pan but if I'm completely honest I have ordered Memeboxes since my PP started and I am perfectly ok with that!), the wait has been painful so let's stop the talk and get to business.

1. Shower Mate - Perfumed de Whip Body Wash 50ml x2 Full Size $4 each
Randomly selected from 3 scents; 01 Romantic Pink Gardenia, 02 Pure White Blossom & 03 Marilyn Red Fantasy.
I received Red Fantasy and Pure White Blossom and they both have pics of Marilyn Monroe on the front. How will I ever throw this packaging out? These are both sealed for freshness and I seriously adore that 99% of the products that are sent out are properly sealed so that you can clearly see they haven't been tampered with. Love! Never sad to receive body wash, it's one of those things I always use and I adore the packaging.

2. Sally's Box - 4 Set (Love Recipe Apple Mask, Delight Ceramide Hydrogel Mask, Delight Collagen Hydrogel Mask, Delight Panthenol Hydrogel Mask) Full Size $14
I love sheet masks, I've been secretly hoarding them in a little box and I think it's about time that I start using some because they are going to become a problem, it's difficult for me though because I have this thing where I like to just look at them, touch them and gently squeeze the packages. I thought I was weird as a makeup artist but beauty blogging has made a super duper beauty product creep. Takes a break to squeeze her sheet masks

3. Beauty People - Miss 100 Super Waterproof Gel Liner Auto Pencil 0.5g Full Size $38
Randomly selected from Glam Brown, Glimmer Bronze, Glimmer Coral
I assumed this would just be a black gel liner pencil, then I opened it and was faced with a stunning shimmery coral colour (which isn't really showing true in the swatch), if I had read the information card or actually looked at the packaging properly I wouldn't have been surprised. I was slightly hesitant about this product until I felt the texture of the pencil and just knew that I would have to find a way to wear this. It's like soft butter, beautifully opaque and doesn't budge once it's set. I'm so pleased to have this in my life, I feel like waterproof eye products made for the Asian market shit all over what we can readily find in the Western world and I'm keen to put this through it's paces.... Update: I've just discovered it has a point sharpener at the end for when you want precision application. Brilliant.

4. VOV - Good-Bye Black Smudge Waterproof Mascara 9g Full Size $19
Randomly selected from 01 Lash Proof Mascara, 02 Volume Proof Mascara & 01 Black Liner
I received the Lash Proof Mascara and aparently this has a 'straight triangular shaped brush for getting right up to the roots of your lashes', I really, reaaaally want to see what this looks like but I have 5 open mascaras and I have to use that shit up because it's out of control. Usually I don't use waterproof mascara but I do buy them at the start of each summer so I have one to wear when I'm swimming, now I don't have to buy one. Not upset about that.

5. Kocostar - 4 Package Set (Ggongji Hair Pack, Face Spot Mirror Patch, 5 Finger Nail Pack & Foot Peeling Pack) Full Size $20
Oh sweet Mary up above, I have just been supplied with sheet mask type products with a twist, this is the winning product for me, I'm so excited about these products that I just need to touch them for a minute. First the Hair Pack; this is a hair mask that you pop around your pony tail, leave on for 30 minutes then remove, blow dry and style as usual. Next is a Face Spot Mirror Patch.. What the fuck? I'll tell you what the fuck, it's a spot treatment patch that contains a little mirror inside the packaging to make application easy when you're on the go (if you've been around for a while you'll know from this post that I don't mind sticking shit on my face and going outside to run errands). Also included in the pack is a set of nail masks, tiny little plastic glove tips full of nail pleasing goodness and finally, a set of those awesome foot masks that make your skin peel like you're a lizard/human hybrid but leaves you with amazingly soft and smooth skin. Note to beauty companies; masks don't need to be boring.

6. Sua Young - Mineral Essence In Liquid Foundation SPF33 PA+++ 5g sample approx value $5.60
Thhis is supposed to be an organic liquid foundation that protects from the sun while also delivering nutrition to the skin, It says it 'effectively covers minor skin imperfections' so I'm going to guess that this is a light coverage foundation, I suspect the colour might be a little light for me (it's darker than what is shown in the photo) but I'll give it a shot at least.

7. Recipe By Nature - Golden Time Vita Capsule Essence 40ml Full Size $42
This looks odd, it's a serum of sorts and is supposed to be good for balancing oil/moisture level, brightening darkened skin and evening out rough skin texture. After taking the above picture I shook the bottle up and it looks like the two liquids form tiny little balls that almost look like fish roe, I thought it would be like an oil based makeup remover and become cloudy but you can distinctly see that the orange liquid has formed little spheres, it's really pretty! I'm going to see if I can find the ingredient list before using this because I'd really like to know more about it before using it on my face.

8. a;t Fox - Fantasy Holic Lip & Cheek Designer Pencil Full Size $7
Randomly selected from 01 Sweet Orange, 02 Lovely Coral or 03 Rose Beige
I received Rose Beige and I can see this being a gorgeous colour for both the lips and cheeks, it blends beautifully and has some serious staying power. The info cards claims it has a matte finish but that's not true, it has a slight sheen and when blended out it looks like skin with a flush, mimicking a healthy, moisturised glow.
This appears to be sample size and if I didn't know at least a few things about Korean makeup then I would be hard pressed believing these are sold as a full size product but that is just one other reason why Korean makeup developers are smart, how many times have I bought a standard size lipstick or lip crayon only to have to throw it out a year or so later because it's gone stale? I couldn't even guess what the number would be. I have never finished a lipstick or lip crayon completely but this looks like a size that I could actually tackle and quite possibly finish completely. More companies need to make mini sized products because people like to switch it up and not have to throw out products that have gone to shit because they are old.

The only item in this box that I'm not dead certain I'll use is the Vita Capsule Essence, if I can't find a list of ingredients (I want to know what the oil is that it contains) I will still likely test it out a few times to see how my skin responds, I love how this box contains something for all over, perfect for head to toe!

Total value of this box comes to approximately $153.60 and Global Boxes sell for $23 minus shipping.

While Memebox Global #14 is sold out they are constantly bringing out new boxes so if you're curious and a little adventurous with your beauty products I highly recommend the service.
