Because why not?

Nivea - Pure & Natural Regenerating Night Cream

6 August 2014
This night cream came to me as part of my BiB prize pack, I had never tried a Nivea face cream before so I was interested to see how it performed, Nivea is widely available and inexpensive so learning if the brand could offer suitable products for me was something I was more than happy to explore.

Nivea face creams that are aimed at women are all packaged in jars, if you read my post from the other day about the Nivea day cream I've been using then you'll know what my thoughts are on the packaging. Grinds teeth

The consistency of the cream is really nice, it has a medium thickness and smooths over the skin really easily, it does leave a slight residue but that is pretty common of night creams and not something that bothers me in the slightest, although it will come down to personal preference. Like the day cream I've been using, this is also heavily scented, this one is a fresh floral and I really like the scent but I do think it could be a little lighter, personally I like my face creams to smell nice but I like that scent to be very light and not linger at all.

This cream claims to offer:
  • 24hr moisture
  • Provitamin B5 to help support the skins natural regeneration
  • Enriches the skin's natural healthy glow.
  • Contains Argan oil and Aloe Vera
  • Is paraben, silicone, colourants and mineral oil free
It does moisturise well but I personally can't leave it on my face for longer than 8 hours because it starts to break me out, I assume it's clogging my pores after long periods of wear because if I am able to wash my face consistently I don't get the spots but when I have a sleep in I wake up with demon spawn on my skin.
The B5, Aloe Vera and Argan oil are mid way in the inci list so they don't have me majorly excited, and that claim about 'enriching the skin's natural glow'.. Well, that's just the residue it leaves on the skin.

There is also a nice little stamp on the packaging that says the ingredients are 95% of natural origin, that is the case for most products on the market, they just don't try to pull the wool over your eyes with clever wording and 'technically speaking' claims.

  • Smells nice
  • Has a nice consistency
  • Is hydrating

  • Fragrance is too strong
  • Jar packaging

Conclusion: Overall this was just a run of the mill night cream for me, if it didn't cause me to break out I'd finish the jar but I wouldn't repurchase, it's just not exciting enough. It'll be used as a body cream to finish it off though because I'm not putting it on my face anymore, my poor skin needs to recover.

Nivea Pure & Natural Regenerating Night Cream can be purchased online from Priceline for $12.99AUD or from many brick and mortar stores that stock inexpensive skincare brands.
