Because why not?

Memebox - Special #14 Zero Cosmetics

18 August 2014
Two months ago I made my first order with Memebox and since then have been border lined obsessed, even though I only received my first boxes a couple of days ago, I have been struggling with not making an order since I started my Project Pan and I'm going to be perfectly honest and say that I will very likely order more Memeboxes in the near future.
Over the next few days I'm going to be featuring 3 Memeboxes which arrived as a bundled order, I'll try to space them out a little so you don't get sick of seeing the same thing over and over but I think these are likely to become a monthly feature on my blog, I have 3 pre-ordered (August, September, October Global Box) so they will definitely be reviewed when they arrive.

A quick run down of Memebox; essentially it's a beauty box service that releases multiple boxes a month and instead of being subscribed and charged on a regular basis you just purchase the ones that you are interested in and they deliver them to your door. Generally the boxes are available for purchase a month or so before they are delivered, they offer bundle packs as well where you get little bonuses like a small discount on the standard price or an upgrade to express shipping.

The boxes range from $15.00 - $89.00USD, on the lower end of the scale you'll receive a bunch of deluxe samples with shipping included in the price, on the higher end you are looking at top notch, full size products but postage generally isn't included. Most boxes are $23.00 - $32.00USD with standard shipping setting you back $6.99USD and express shipping will hit you harder at $25.99USD. Express shipping takes 3-7 business days while standard is 10-20. I highly recommend going for a value set if there are multiple boxes that tickle your fancy because they will give you a free upgrade with your shipping and they arrive lightning fast! One thing to keep in mind though is that we (Australians) will pay a little extra because our dollar isn't as strong. Lame.

This box was selling for $23.00USD and has a total value of $117.14USD.

The Zero Cosmetics box contains five full size and one deluxe sample size products which are free of nasties like alcohol, parabens and other additives.

1. Papa Recipe Bombee Soap 100g $13 Full Size - This is a natural soap made from propolis, honey extracts, jojoba oil and citron seed oil, on top it has this pretty honey combed effect. Bar soaps aren't really my thing because I don't like to share my bars yet people in my house don't seem to understand that, I have legitimately hidden bars of soap from people in my house and they still end up back in the shower without my knowledge of how they got there. I once had a bar of Sards Wonder Soap that I used for cleaning my SPFX brushes, it kept showing up in the shower and I kept hiding it, even after I explained to the people in my house that it was heavy duty soap for removing stains I still continued to find it in the shower... The fuck? I think I'll keep this one shrink wrapped until they all go on holiday and I know it'll be safe.

2. Benton Snail Bee High Content Steam Cream 50g $18 Full Size - From what I can tell a steam cream is just a moisturiser (correct me if there is more to it please!), this one contains snail secretion filtrate (yay!), hyaluronic acid, argan oil, bee venom and other snazzy sounding ingredients to soften the skin with some sort of built in steaming method. This sounds like fun! Can't wait to finish off my current moisturisers so I can play with this!

3. All Natural Organic Mask Sheet 25ml x 4 $6 Full Size - Sheet masks are always welcome in my home, this is a set of four containing broccoli, blueberry, houttuynia cordata (?) and blackbean. I have no idea what their specific benefits are supposed to be but I kind of don't care.

4. Easydew Fresh Mild Sunblock SPF 50+ 7ml Approx $7.14 Deluxe Sample - I'm starting to feel that my facial sunscreen needs to be a little special, I always used the same SPF product for my face as I did with my body, but my skin doesn't seem to want to share any more so I'm excited to try this. This one has a nice light texture but I worry that it might be a little too greasy for my liking, will give this a go one my face and it'll either stay in my collection or be demoted to a body product.

5. Innerface Shy Blossom Soothing Serum 50ml $43 Full Size - This smells organic! With aloe vera, lavender, hyaluronic acid and sacha inchi oil it's meant to be great for people with sensitive skin. After trying to translate the slight engrish on the bottle I think the formulation is based on typical herbs used in New Zealand natural skincare.. I think.. Anyway I'll give it a try, I quite like natural products and I'm never sad when I end up with new ones.

6. Nature's Friend SaeHaneul Eye & Nourishing Cream 40g $30 Full Size - This apparently has 10 different organic plant extracts and is supposed to be good for the eye area and just battling lines and wrinkles in general. If I used this solely on my eyes I would never have to buy another eye cream in my life because it's huge. This will most likely be trialed all over my face to see if it's suitable and if so it'll just be my moisturiser!

I'm really liking the contents of this box, often when my skin is going through some sort of upset I like to switch back to basics and these items look like they could be great for times like that, I just wish I could actually use some right now without feeling guilty! Must finish old products!

  1. Broccoli face mask. Broccoli is one of my fave foods just third to kebabs and pizza so I naturally will love the mask, I just know it.

Have you tried the masks? Because you have to report back about the broccoli one and the question mark one because it's name literally translates to 'fishy-smell herb'!!!! Omg a fish mask, please please update me.

    1. I haven't tried them yet, I've been using ones that I've had in my stash for some time but if you're curious I'll give them a go ASAP and do a little post for you :)

When I read your comment I could not stop laughing, what the heck is a fishy-smell herb!?!?!

Expect a blog post in the near future, this could be very interesting!
