Because why not?

Mecca Cosmetica - Beauty Loop Box Level 1

26 July 2014
Quick update: July, blogging and I just aren't getting along. I'll have a free day and plan to blog my little heart out and then something comes up where I'm running those errands, catching up with this or that person or mum and/or dad need me to drive them all over town. Finally a day comes along where I don't actually have to do something and I'm so people and life drained that I can't even look at the computer, I legitimately just hide in my room and practice deep breathing while watching Big Brother UK and sipping cups of chamomile tea. The next day I'm feeling recharged and ready to go and suddenly there is something that needs to be done again.

I just... Ugh.
Fuck off July.
Oh also, good update alert; I'm doing a waxing course. Yay for ripping hair out of people's bodies.

Ok, lets talk about why we are really here.

Mecca Cosmetica Beauty Loop boxes are available to those who spend a minimum of $300.00AUD a year at any Mecca Cosmetica, Mecca Maxima or their online shop. They have 4 boxes available per year (each quarter) and the level of box (1, 2 or 3) that you receive will depend on the amount of money you have spent in the previous 12 month period before each review date. I could write an essay on all the ins and outs but.. I'm not. My brain is on the verge of pushing me towards the kettle and raiding the tea cabinet so I'm going to get through this as quickly as I can and hope that it helps me get my blogging groove back. If you want to know more about the Mecca Beauty Loop you can read all about it here.

This is my first ever Beauty Loop Box and I only qualified for level 1, which means I have spent $300 - $599 AUD in the last 12 months (I'm more on the lower scale if you're curious ha!). I was pretty excited when I got the email saying I could come collect a box so after class today I stopped in to the Melbourne Central store and one of the gorgeous SA's gave me my little box.

So what was inside?

bareMinerals 5 in 1 BB Cream Eyeshadow - Please don't take what I'm about to say as a slight towards Mecca, because it's not; but what the actual fuck? A BB cream eyeshadow? Just stop it.

Bobbi Brown CC Cream SPF 35 - I'm not sure if you guys know what my thoughts are on BB, CC, EE and whatever other double letter bullshit these companies are milking but you can probably guess from the sentence you have just read. I'll try this out some day when I'm bored but it would have to be 'knock your socks off' amazing for me to not think this is a bullshit product.

Glam Glow Brightmud Eye Treatment - Ohhh man, I seriously want to try Glam Glow but the price makes me want to cry and I have yet to be able to justify the cost of one of those tiny little jars, I wish, I wish, this was a sample of the normal face mask because a mud mask made for the eye area just doesn't sound right to me. Will try while dreaming of one day actually being able to use the original mud mask.

Philosophy Purity Cleanser - Will definitely use this and have no 'what the fuck' issues with the product, I haven't used many Philosophy products so I was pretty pleased to see this in the box.

Overall I am actually happy with the contents, I'll use everything and my little rants on some of the products aren't really complaints about receiving free samples it's more to do with what I consider 'suspect claims' of some of these products but I'll be happy to print this page off and eat my words if any of the products actually deliver something that sets them apart.

I think these boxes are a lovely way of thanking shoppers for their loyalty, I don't believe there is a single beauty loving woman who doesn't like a box of (free) surprise samples and I know I can't wait for the next box!!

Did you qualify for a Beauty Loop Box this quarter? If so let me know what you thought of the contents!

Links provided are for shopping examples only, I have personally purchased from some (not all) of these online stores but I highly recommend researching before buying. Items marked * were sent to me for trial and consideration, all other products were purchased by myself and I am in no way affiliated with any of the companies mentioned unless otherwise stated. All opinions are my own and based on my personal experience. Integrity Always..

  1. Seriously this is what you got? OMG! I am SO annoyed - I got 4 crappy sachets of things - not enough to actually see if they are any good or enough (a bumble and bumble shampoo/conditioner duo, a face cream, a face mask and a cleanser :( ). Might go back and kick up a fuss - I've purchased at least one thing from the previous 2 boxes, but seeing as there just isn't enough product to see if these do what they claim or not, I really can't bring myself to. Totally crushing on that Bare Minerals eyeshadow....:(
(PS only anonymous because I've forgotten my stupid Google password and I can't seem to find a way to sort it out)

    1. hahaha, I keep a note pad with all my passwords written down because my brain is a sieve sometimes!!

I'll be honest, I thought these samples were a little paltry. I would have thought spending over $300 would encourage more generous samples, I find when I shop online with Mecca I get 2-3 samples in my package so when I opened my box I was surprised. Maybe I was spoilt when shopping in Europe, they literally put handfuls of samples in your bag each time you shop, I think that's good business ;)

    1. I think I will enjoy these, although I think some are a bit silly I will still use them and I'm happy to have the opportunity to try out some new things.

    1. I'm definitely going to Saturday Sample the eye mask, I'm really interested to see how it performs, I'm not convinced that a mud mask for the eyes is really a necessary thing haha.
