Because why not?

Subscription Box - Red Pawpaw May 2014.

5 June 2014
I was tossing up whether or not to write about this subscription box, it's not beauty related, but then again neither are my Monstrositea posts, I just love tea and that particular subscription service so I want to write about it. I also love food and subscription box reviews so I have concluded that I'm going to post about it.

Red Pawpaw is a monthly subscription service with a twist. Each month it costs $5 for your box and a little while after you receive your box you are asked to fill out a survey about the products you were sent. You can sign up for a monthly payment or you can commit to a yearly subscription and pay the lot up front, they also give you the option to pay an extra $5 for your box each month and forgo the survey.

I subbed for a year straight off the bat, it was a risk I was willing to take, if you are a regular reader you will know that I don't sub to many of the regular subscription boxes, I was all over them a couple of years ago but I developed a hatred for foil packets so I avoid beauty boxes, the Red Pawpaw box can contain beauty products but they also fill your box with food and household products, for me this is great, I love to try new things and don't have any food allergies so I would get a lot of use out of a box like this.

The debut box was pretty freakin' amazing for $5.

  • Green's Buttermilk Pancake Shake
  • Henry Jones & Co Fruit & Chia (Blood Ornage & Chia Seeds)
  • Taylor's Minestrone With Aussie Vegetables Soup
  • Finish Quantum Powerball Dishwasher Tablets
  • Pine O Clean Disinfecting Wipes
  • Mentos Very Berry
  • Mentos Pure Fresh Spearmint
  • Nivea Q10 Plus CC Cream samples
  • Saxa Black Cyprus Salt
  • Saxa Natural Sea Salt Flakes
  • Kellogg's Special K Cracker Crisps in Honey Barbecue

The first thing I did when I opened the box was let my jaw drop to the floor in shock. Then I ate the Special K Crisps. The whole box. In one sitting. While shoving the crackers in my face I had a flick through the information booklet they provided along with the recipe suggestions for the fruit & chia jam.

Everything in the box is usable for our family, except the dishwasher tablets, they will have to go to a neighbour. I love that the box has delivered a bunch of things that I wouldn't usually buy but would be interested in trying.

I think the thing I'm most excited about is seeing how this box evolves over the coming months, I'm particularly curious to see if the quality of the boxes is maintained.
