Because why not?

Schwarzkopf Extra Care - Liquid Silk Leave-In Treatment.

4 June 2014
Liquid silk my ass.

So I grabbed this at the recent Priceline 40% off Hair Care sale, I have this thing where I want Schwarzkopf products to really impress me, it's a brand that I've grown up with and I naturally want to trust it like you would anything that has been around your whole life and not scarred you.

The packaging is pretty, a nice baby pink with a soft holographic label, it says liquid silk on the bottle and has wonderful key words like repair, treatment, suppleness & silky shine, it tells me it's a new release and it's aimed at dull and brittle hair. It talks to me in a special hair code that few of us can understand but it LIES. It also holds a deep dark secret from hell.

Right, so the packaging is actually nice, visaually I'm happy, sure it doesn't feel expensive but I don't care about that stuff. The cap is also a factor I'm keen on, it's a little pop top which makes for a nice little change from the average pump top and it's quite easy to control the amount that's dispensed.

The product claims: "The new formula with liquid keratin precisely repairs hair damage and refills gaps in the hair cuticle... Extra silky hair feeling & breathtaking shine, without overburdening."

It's times like this that I wish I did video reviews because there is not a meme or gif in the whole wide wonderful web that can quite express the face that I had to make while I was typing out that sentence.

The first thing I noticed about this product was the way it looked, it's so fucking pretty when you squeeze it out of the tube, it has this gorgeous gold pearlescent look to it and I was kinda thinking I would love the shit out of this.

Then I noticed the smell. Schwarzkopf, what is your deal with scents? Before I continue I'll let you guys know I tried some Schwarzkopf products recently that worked and I am a fan of their dry spray range, so I'm not trying to hate on them completely but please, for the sake of all that is good in the world, whoever works on the scents for Schwarzkopf needs to be replaced because they SUCK at their job.

This stuff smells like Nannas bath soaps that have been at the back of her bathroom cabinet for 20 years.
Rank. If you're a fan of Nan's stinky soaps or you are a Nan with stinky soap, I'm sorry if I've offended you, but this is the memory my nose brings up when I smell this stuff.

So I'm putting this stuff through my hair because in all honesty I can deal with a shit scent if; A) The product is good and/or B) The scent isn't intensely overpowering (which it's not, I couldn't notice the scent once it was in my hair)... I'm about half way through sectioning my hair and applying this cream when I realise I have gold shimmer all over my hands.

This stuff is jam packed full of stink and shimmer. The stink goes away, the shimmer falls everywhere as your hair dries and will haunt me until my death.

The kicker.. Once my hair dried it was as frizzy and shitty looking as it is without any product in it. So I'm left with dry, frizzy, unmanageable hair that's full of gold shimmer. I felt like I needed to recite the lords prayer, particularly the part; 'lead us not in to temptation, but deliver us from evil'.

All jokes aside, I can't recommend this product. I feel that it is so bad that it's not even something I would be comfortable saying 'doesn't suit me, but could suit you', it's just plain bad. Usually when I end up with products that don't work for me I pass them on to people who I think they will suit but I don't think anyone suits 'useless but shimmery, with a side of stinky'.

No Pros or Cons, just a Conclusion: Bin.

What is the worst product you have ever used?

  4. Once again your unbelievably refreshing honesty has spared me a nightmare experience babe - no one writes about duds as well as you do hon ♡♡♡ Mirenesse eyelash serum is probably my worst adventure - does zilch except sting my eyes and I believe it retails for $100+, I only paid postage for mine but even that was too much...

    1. Thank you so much Kat! Mirenesse are so hit and miss! I find some of their makeup stuff can be really nice but the skin care is usually lacking for me. I have no idea why these lash serums are so damn expensive but there is no way I would buy one from Mirenesse for that price!!
