Because why not?

Revlon - Balm Stain, Matte Balm & Lacquer Balm Roundup.

9 June 2014
I was so late jumping on the Just Bitten Kissable Balm Stain bandwagon, for starters the name is stupid and it shit me. Most of all I just didn't think it was a product I needed, "Yay, another lipstick in a chubby crayon form, I need a million of those" /sarcasm.

Then I recieved one in my BiB prize pack and I realised just how wrong I was.
Not a lipstick.
Name is still stupid.
I do actually like chubby crayon style packaging.
Product is fucking amazing.
I do need a million of these.

So my collection has grown, I only have 6 of them but generally if I own more than one for my personal use you know I'm a fan.

Revlon then released the Matte Balms and Lacquer Balms, again I felt like I didn't need these but I grabbed one of each to try them out and figured I'd throw together an overview of the products.

The Just Bitten Kissable Balm Stains have had a name change, they are now known as Revlon Colourburst Balm Stain to fit with the rest of the Colourburst Balm range, these are my favourite in the range, not too glossy, comfortable, easy to apply and like the name suggests; they leave a stain on your lips.

The Lacquer Balms have a glossy finish and feel just like the stains, everything about them is consistent across the range, the minty scent, the hydrating and comfortable feel, the only difference is the finish.

The Matte Balms are also super comfortable but good god they are hard to wear! I've always had issues with wearing mattes, no matter how much I prep my lips they look shocking on me and these are no exception unfortunately.

My swatch photos don't seem to be much help showing the differences in the finishes, photographer I am not. Also the balm is actually the stain, this post has turned my brain to mush it would seem.

With these shots you can see the finish a little better, the stain (which I have named balm in the last 2 shots because I'm a derp) and the lacquer look very similar but the lacquers have a glossier finish IRL, the matte doesn't look so bad here but the camera is being exceptionally kind and it doesn't look this nice on my lips in person.

The stains are by far my faves, the lacquers are ok, but I don't find they are long lasting enough for me and the mattes I absolutely can't wear.

Do you have a favourite from the Revlon Balm range or do you love them all?

Links provided are for shopping examples only, I have personally purchased from some (not all) of these online stores but I highly recommend researching before buying. Items marked * were sent to me for trial and consideration, all other products were purchased by myself and I am in no way affiliated with any of the companies mentioned unless otherwise stated. All opinions are my own and based on my personal experience. Integrity Always..

  1. Hey, I nominated you for a Liebster Award. To find out what it is & to answer the questions I asked you:

  2. I've only tried the original balm stains, and love them! I haven't felt the need to buy the lacquers or mattes, because I prefer the long lasting stain of the original. Great review, hun :)
