Empty! June 2014.

30 June 2014
This post is going to be a bit of a joke.

June Lovers 2014.

29 June 2014
I don't like these posts! It's too hard picking things!

Last month Kat from Kitsch Snitch made this video and I can relate to the part about "Runners Up".

Anyway lets look at the crap that didn't feel like such a 'runner up' for me.

Subscription Box - Monstrositea July 2014.

27 June 2014
I was so happy to see my Monstrositea box in the mail this week, I was particularly hoping that there would be a herbal blend aimed at calming and soothing.

You knew I was having a hard time didn't you Monstrositea? Tell your psychic tea picker that they got skills!

Subscription Box - Red Pawpaw June 2014.

25 June 2014
I have decided that I really like having food delivered to my door. I have also learnt that I don't like to share this food. It's mine. All of it.

Come Play With Me - How Low Can You Go?

23 June 2014
So we are back with more of the Come Play With Me series, this time Monique from Moniquekerstin chose the theme and that has led us to a very difficult question.. How low can you go?

(Pretty Big) Haul - OPI

21 June 2014
A couple of weeks ago I applied for a Salon First membership, they were quick to respond, accept and send me my membership card, I won't talk too much about the company because they are an industry professional store only which means they aren't open to the general public which will likely annoy you guys after you see what I got and what I paid for it all but I want to share my haul because it contains a lot of new instant favourites and I'm excited about my new goodies, also it's easy for me to blog about stuff like this because it requires minimal brain function.

Late last week I decided it was time to do my first shop with Salon First, I had visited one of their brick and mortar Melbourne stores the week before and drooled all the way through their store. At home I had to really control myself and tried to stay stricktly in their sale pages so I wouldn't overspend, I managed to stay below budget and scored a bunch of lovely goodies.

Priceline Skincare Goody Bag 2014.

20 June 2014
Went shopping with Nalini from The Made Up Maiden yesterday, we spent a good chunk of the day at Chadstone talking about girly things and perusing the stores, just what I needed after my nightmare week!

The main purchase that I wanted to make while there was a small Priceline haul to qualify for the Skincare Goody Bag, I skipped the last 2 (hair and makeup) because they were full of stuff I wouldn't use but this one sucked me in, also I really enjoy blogging about these sorts of GWP, I get to touch pretty things!!

Some of the items are substitutes for what is pictured in the advertisement, I'll put the original product in brackets where applicable, I didn't photograph the bag it's self because it doesn't fit in my light box and I had no natural lighting to take advantage of, it's a nice change from the usual black bags though! Oh and the boring details: Spend $65 or more over participating brands to qualify for your free bag.

Ok I'll shut up so we can look at the stuff!

Pristine Oils - Custom Cleanser.

19 June 2014
A few weeks ago I was contacted by Trevor from Pristine Oils regarding their products and it was perfect timing too, I was in need of an oil cleanser so I happily took up the offer.

Now just so we are clear; I actually paid for this product but I did receive a discount.

The concept of Pristine Oils is to offer people a customised cleansing oil to suit your specific skin requirements so regardless of having dry, oily, acnaic, combination or normal skin, Pristine Oils can help you find the right type of oil cleanser for you. They also offer pre-made cleansers, organic pure oils and their newest addition to their range; 'Before You Go' toilet sprays (which I've had the pleasure of trying recently and they are surprisingly good! If you guys are interested in a little write up about them let me know).

Oh Gurl Dem Shoes! Feat. Forever New.

17 June 2014
After my recent weekend stress party (AKA the car accident), my brain has legit taken a holiday. I'm not sure if it was left at the scene of the accident or if it up and bolted while I was sleeping but what I do know is that I'm running on instinct and repetition only, I can't seem to make my brain and body cooperatively function like a normal person, if you've seen the movie Warm Bodies then you can think of me as R, I'm in there somewhere but only the dimmest light is on.

Multiple times I've tried to sit down and blog this week but I just can't make it flow, I have a whole bunch of half finished posts waiting for me to complete but every time I look at them I feel like this:

Liebster Award #2

11 June 2014
I was nominated for another Liebster Award by the gorgeous Taylor who writes Taylor De Vil, what perfect timing too because I have some busy days ahead and not enough posts organised to keep the non-posting-guilt at bay.

The rules of the game:1. Thank the person who nominated you, and post a link to their blog on your blog.2. Display the award on your blog.3. Answer 11 questions about yourself, which will be provided to you by the person who nominated you.4. Nominate 11 blogs that you feel deserve the award, who have a less than 1000 followers.5. Create a new list of questions for the blogger to answer.6. List these rules in your post (You can copy and paste from here.) Once you have written and published it, you then have to:7. Inform the people/blogs that you nominated that they have been nominated for the Liebster award and provide a link for them to your post so that they can learn about it (they might not have ever heard of it!)

Here are the questions Taylor has asked:

What is your #1 beauty brand you stand by?
Straight off the bat this is a super difficult question for me to answer but if I had to choose just one it would be Illamasqua, I've never purchased a product from them that I didn't love. If I could choose another for skin care products I would say Puretopia and if you'd let me choose a third I'd say Dermalogica for high end skin care.

Somewhere you would love to travel & why?
Back to Paris. That city stole my heart!

Something you are passionate about?
Let me be really predictable and say beauty products, I know it's as obvious as a punch in the face since I'm a makeup artist and I write a beauty blog in my spare time but there is nothing that I'm more passionate about. I can't list what would be second on my list because I'd have to list about 100 things that I'm equally as passionate about.

Your favourite Fashion Trend right now, if nothing now, your favourite past Trend?
Boots and jackets, I'm fucking obsessed with boots and jackets.

What's one thing your followers may not know about you?
I'm the youngest of 3, there is a 9 and 10 year gap between me, my sister and brother. I'm an auntie of 9 (I think.. I know that sounds bad but it really is easy to loose count) and I still (shamefully) live with my parents.

If you were stuck on an island, what are 3 beauty products you would need with you?
Cleanser, moisturiser and sunscreen. Boring but I'd be happy as a pig in shit with those. If we are going to be specific I would want Angels on Bare Skin by Lush, Trilogy Rosapene Night Cream and anything with 30+ UVA and UVB protection.

One beauty product or Trend (past or present) you wish you could banish from the world?
This is really hard for me, I'm a firm believer of wearing your clothes and makeup however you want and not giving a shit of what others think but if I had to choose one I'd have to say highlighting and contouring à la Kim Kardashian. Unless you're being photographed it's unnecessary and it won't make you look like Kim K.

Your favourite bloggers?
Don't make me choose favourites!! I read a lot of blogs.

Your favourite thing about your hometown?
Everything, but the main thing would just be the fact that it's home. Not sure that I could ever move away, I chose Melbourne over a 4 year relationship. It was so worth it.

All time favourite movie(s)?
Beauty and The Beast (my go-to when I'm feeling emotional sadness). Snatch (Brad Pitt is not only hilarious but sexy as fuck) and Step Brothers (because Step Brothers, hello!).

Your favourite things about blogging?
It allows me to always be involved in everything beauty related even when paying artistry work is quiet. My chosen field of work makes me happy and it's so nice to have something to make you happy every single day.

Thank you so much Taylor for the nomination, I loved your questions and this post will help give me a blog break over the next few busy days. I'm not going to nominate anyone because I'm tired and I want to watch Masterchef so that's what I'm going to do.

MAC Cosmetics - Alluring Aquatic Collection + Giveaway. CLOSED - Winners Announced.

10 June 2014
So the MAC Alluring Aquatic Collection was released in Australia on the 2nd of June and life made sure that I wasn't able to purchase anything until a week later when most of the goodies were sold out. So rude.

Revlon - Balm Stain, Matte Balm & Lacquer Balm Roundup.

9 June 2014
I was so late jumping on the Just Bitten Kissable Balm Stain bandwagon, for starters the name is stupid and it shit me. Most of all I just didn't think it was a product I needed, "Yay, another lipstick in a chubby crayon form, I need a million of those" /sarcasm.

Then I recieved one in my BiB prize pack and I realised just how wrong I was.
Not a lipstick.
Name is still stupid.
I do actually like chubby crayon style packaging.
Product is fucking amazing.
I do need a million of these.

So my collection has grown, I only have 6 of them but generally if I own more than one for my personal use you know I'm a fan.

Revlon then released the Matte Balms and Lacquer Balms, again I felt like I didn't need these but I grabbed one of each to try them out and figured I'd throw together an overview of the products.

The Just Bitten Kissable Balm Stains have had a name change, they are now known as Revlon Colourburst Balm Stain to fit with the rest of the Colourburst Balm range, these are my favourite in the range, not too glossy, comfortable, easy to apply and like the name suggests; they leave a stain on your lips.

The Lacquer Balms have a glossy finish and feel just like the stains, everything about them is consistent across the range, the minty scent, the hydrating and comfortable feel, the only difference is the finish.

The Matte Balms are also super comfortable but good god they are hard to wear! I've always had issues with wearing mattes, no matter how much I prep my lips they look shocking on me and these are no exception unfortunately.

My swatch photos don't seem to be much help showing the differences in the finishes, photographer I am not. Also the balm is actually the stain, this post has turned my brain to mush it would seem.

With these shots you can see the finish a little better, the stain (which I have named balm in the last 2 shots because I'm a derp) and the lacquer look very similar but the lacquers have a glossier finish IRL, the matte doesn't look so bad here but the camera is being exceptionally kind and it doesn't look this nice on my lips in person.

The stains are by far my faves, the lacquers are ok, but I don't find they are long lasting enough for me and the mattes I absolutely can't wear.

Do you have a favourite from the Revlon Balm range or do you love them all?

Pinned It!

7 June 2014
My nails have been a bit boring lately and I wanted to try out a bit of nail art so off to Pinterest I went to see what I could recreate.

Schwarzkopf - Essence Ultime Mineral Strength Shampoo & Spray Conditioner Duo.*

6 June 2014
I was lucky enough to be sent the new Schwarzkopf Essence Ultime Mineral Strength Shampoo and Spray Conditioner duo by Beauty Heaven to trial. I was keen to receive these products, after trialing the Schwarzkopf Dry Spray range I had a sneaking suspicion that Schwarzkopf were going to start bringing out new products and basically try to revamp their range.

Subscription Box - Red Pawpaw May 2014.

5 June 2014
I was tossing up whether or not to write about this subscription box, it's not beauty related, but then again neither are my Monstrositea posts, I just love tea and that particular subscription service so I want to write about it. I also love food and subscription box reviews so I have concluded that I'm going to post about it.

Schwarzkopf Extra Care - Liquid Silk Leave-In Treatment.

4 June 2014
Liquid silk my ass.

So I grabbed this at the recent Priceline 40% off Hair Care sale, I have this thing where I want Schwarzkopf products to really impress me, it's a brand that I've grown up with and I naturally want to trust it like you would anything that has been around your whole life and not scarred you.

May 2014 Collective Haul.

3 June 2014
I've been thinking maybe I do need to go on a spending ban.. But then I thought Fuck It. Life is going quite smoothly at the moment which is nice.

Empty! May 2014

2 June 2014
I have discovered that as you accumulate more time spent on the planet the time you have left goes quicker. No one warns you about this, you just hear stupid comments like "time flies!" while your growing up and all you can think is 'shut up mum, Super Ted is on'. Then one day you're looking at the calender thinking..

Where did the last 4 years go?

I can't believe it's the end of May. I can't believe it's 2014. Time is a Ninja.
