Because why not?

May 2014 Lovers

31 May 2014
I give up trying to work out a way to be consistent with my monthly favourites.

I don't know how other bloggers do it, I get a pile of the things I really really love together and then I feel bad for leaving out the old favourites so I bundle them up too and then I'm have a shit fight trying to photograph everything and then I just want to cry.

I'm this guy

So these are the things that I've been loving recently and I'm not going to let favourites be a hateful experience any more.

My Hourglass Ambient Lighting Powders are awesome, I love, love, love them so much it hurts, I'm tossing up whether to review them really soon or wait until I can buy the three I don't own, decisions.

The Dermalogica Age Smart Skinperfect Primer is something I've had a for a few months now but not used much, just this week it has been making an appearance in my daily routine and I've been noticing the difference, expensive but lovely.

Dark lips are doing it for me these days and the darkest I own in my personal collection is Poisonberry by Lime Crime. Longevity is so good!

Lashes have also been a daily favourite, you might be able to see that I cut the Manicare Glam Eyes Miranda Lashes in half and they blend so beautifully with my natural lashes and don't make me look like a drag queen. Perfect this way for my small eyes.

Finally the Maybelline Master Precise Liquid Liner.. I hate liquid liner, the applicators are mostly shit, they dry up, they don't apply smoothly and I can't create a wing that is suitable for my eye shape, this one doesn't tick any of those crappy boxes, it's fucking awesome. I still can't get the wing right so I opt for a very small flick which works well when paired with the lashes. I love this so much that I purchased a back up after the second time I used it.

Non makeup fave is my Monstrositea subscription. Tea makes me so damn happy.

Dishonourable Mentions

Shitty product of the month goes to Couleur Caramel Dark Circle Concealer, full review here. We don't get along and I'm tired of trying.

What is your ultimate favourite and most hated product this month?

Links provided are for shopping examples only, I have personally purchased from some (not all) of these online stores but I highly recommend researching before buying. Items marked * were sent to me for trial and consideration, all other products were purchased by myself and I am in no way affiliated with any of the companies mentioned unless otherwise stated. All opinions are my own and based on my personal experience. Integrity Always..

  1. I'm thinking I gotta get me one of those Hourglass Ambient Lighting powders. But OMG which one? I should have tried them on when I went to Mecca while I was in Melbourne.

    1. They are all good for different things Rose, people seem to say they are good for all over the face but I don't agree with that completely, some are better than others for certain things, I like Dim all over the face when I want to look a little bronzed, or I'll use it for a soft contour, I like Ethereal all over the face when I want to have the glow without added colour but it also makes a good highlight when applied heavily, mood makes for a nice soft blush when I'm going for a no makeup look.

I've just received the palette but yet to use it and I'll be picking up the other 3 during June, I'm going to wait until I have the whole collection to do a review because they aren't just a face powder, there is more to them than that and I'd like to review them properly.

If you're dying to get one ASAP I would go for Ethereal, it's a great finishing powder that doesn't change the colour of your makeup and can be used all over quite easily, when you swatch it it'll look like a full blown highlight but when applied lightly with a fluffy brush it looks great on the skin.

    2. Thank you for that! I was kinda leaning towards Ethereal anyway. I looked at them at Mecca, but didn't try them on. Silly me!

  2. I have read so much about Hourglass, it seems to be on the hype as of late. I checked out mecca earlier today and their prices almost gave me a heart attack. I'm keen to see your review!
