Because why not?

Maybelline - Stripped Nudes.

18 April 2014
When I saw the little display of the new Maybelline Stripped Nudes collection in Chemist Warehouse I nearly peed my pants. I love nudes, they are so easy to wear and will suit anyone when the right tones are used.
I've just been looking at the Maybelline website for more information on the collection but in all honesty that site is crap. I distinctly remember there were 4 nail polishes, 6 lipsticks and some eye related stuff available in the collection but on the site there is no mention of the collection other than the lipsticks. Maybelline; I'm loving this new collection but bloody hell your website is a shit stain on the internet. Sorry, not sorry. Let's move on.

I picked up 3 of the 4 Polishes available and 3 of the 6 lipsticks. Nude polish is a dead set, all time favourite of mine and I would have grabbed all 4 but I thought the darkest one was less nude and more just plain brown against my skin tone. As for nude lipstick.. Well I can't actually pull them off, my lips never seem to be in nice enough condition to wear them well but I continue to buy them because they are pretty, I hope for a miracle and they can always go in to my freelancing kit if said miracle isn't granted.

The nail polish colours I grabbed are (in order of most loved): Take It Off, Tan Lines & In Your Flesh.

Take It Off - This is easily my favourite, being the closest to my natural skin tone it is what I would consider a true nude for me and I'm currently obsessed with it.

Tan Lines - This is a clear base with a hell of a lot of gold/nude-ish shimmer which seems to have a slightly silver tint to it depending on the lighting. Perfect when you want a more 'fancy' nude.

In Your Flesh - This one is bordering on too dark for me, it's more of a caramel colour against my skin tone but still glad that I grabbed this one.

The wear time of the cream colours is quite good, I get a few days with no chips when I use a good top coat, Tan Lines doesn't last quite as long on me though. They are all fairly opaque, 2 coats is perfect for me. The packaging and brushes are typical Maybelline.

The lipsticks are actually quite nice, the formula is creamy and fairly opaque, they aren't drying at all but also aren't long lasting and they do require lip prepping before use because they like to cling to dry patches as you can see in the photos. I do have some difficulty wearing them because my lips love to be dry regardless of what I do but at the moment they are my favourite nudes in my collection.

Overall I'm loving the new collection and if you like nudes you're likely to find at least one item in this collection that you'll fall in love with.
