Because why not?

February 2014 Lovers.

28 February 2014
Well shit, the end of Feb really snuck up on me. What really happened was I forgot Feb has 28 days and therefor didn't have my regular end of month posts ready when they should have been. Derp, derp, derp.

I've been loving a lot of the same stuff this month with just a few new additions (including shit products that need to get out of my life).

Hair

I don't wash my hair very often because I'm revolting, also because it's super dry and the best thing for it is to allow the natural oils my scalp produces to help strengthen my roots, I want naturally long, bleach blonde hair and therefor I'm willing to let it get dirty before I wash it so Batiste Dry Shampoo in Cherry is a staple product, L'Oreal Professional Expert Silver Shampoo keeps my blonde from looking yellow and maintains my white gradient while Herbal Essences Hello Hydration Rinse Off Treatment has been helping me to inject some moisture while washing without breaking the bank. Out of the shower John Frieda Full Repair Perfect Ends Deep Infusion (review) smooths my frizzy ends and lengths while promoting softness and I toss up between L'Oreal Elvive Extraordinary Oil and Organix Renewing Moroccan Argan Oil Extra Penetrating Oil depending on where I am in my bleach cycle.
My Tangle Teezer (review) is essential and I think everyone should own one!
When my hair needs extra shine but I'm getting close to wash day I opt for Tigi Bed Head Headrush because it's so lightweight and smells like candy and when it's time to tone my hair I grab my tub of Manic Panic Ultra Violet, I reckon I've saved about $100 in just the past month using this product instead of buying ready made toners.
Not pictured: Coconut Oil, this one was ready to go and then I dropped it on the kitchen tiles and it shattered, something else that shattered was my heart. I'm just glad it was almost empty.

Skincare

Dermalogica Daily Microfoliant has me falling deeper in love everyday, I find it actually cleans out those little plugs of crap that people like to call blackheads, I think they should be renamed Skin Demon Babies. La Roche Possay Hydreane Legere use to give me break out problems but after trying it out again before giving it the boot I discovered we get along well, it's a fantastic moisturiser that is an even better makeup base! Clarins Moisture Replenishing Lip Balm (review) is a winner this month, it tends to get pushed aside when a new lip product comes in to my life but when I pick it up again I wonder why I ever put it down. Trilogy Rosehip Oil Antioxidant+ and Trilogy Roseapene Night Cream (reviews) are still killing it and Lancome Genefique Yeux (review) is really impressing me, I'm sad it's almost empty because I know I can't afford more.

Makeup

Giorgio Armani Designer Lift (review) is shitting all over the other foundations I've been trying and the Revlon Just Bitten Kissable Balm Stains are seriously impressing me. Australis Velourlips in TOK-I-O is a recent addition to my collection and while the colour isn't extremely wearable I fucking love the wear time and scent, amazeballs. My Bobbi Brown Long Wear Gel Liner in Black Ink is on it's way out and I'm having issues letting it go so I've been using my Flormar Matte Mono Eye Shadow in Black as a liner more frequently and I reckon this is the most intense black shadow I have ever used. Bourjois Blush in Rose d'Or has been reached for frequently simply because I'm enjoying the soft shimmer it contains (but blush shouldn't have a rose scent. Stop it Bourjois) and Australis Tint My Brow in Blonde (review) has been keeping my out of control brows in check.

Body

Garnier Body Tonic Sugar Scrub has been a super fave this month, if the scent was more up my alley it would be contending with my HG scrub but I'm not a great fan of lemony scents, Vaseline Spray Moisturiser Dry Skin Repair is awesome and I've been having a heap of fun playing with it, Rexona Clinical Protection Deodorant has prevented me from being a stinky person so that deserves a mention and John Plunkett Eczema Cream was sent to me recently and it works better than any other product I've used in the past so fave status is well deserved.

Nails

Seche Vite and Seche Restore have both revolutionised my nail routine and collection, OPI Liquid Sands in Jinx (review) and Sally Hansen Gem Crush in Big Money are still gracing my phalanges and they continue to be my most reached for polishes.

Tools

I have recycled the following pictures from last month, mostly because my opinions haven't changed and also because I'm a horrible, lazy blogger!

Daiso Detergent for Puff and Sponge, when a product cuts the time it takes me to wash my brushes it deserves some props.

My Zpalettes are still making my life easier and encouraging me to use up products so I can buy more without feeling guilty!

The Real Techniques Buffing and Contouring Brushes are fantastic and I'm still deeply in love with my Illamasqua Angled Face Brush. I treat my Eco Tools Lash and Brow Comb with a high level of care an respect because I have a tendency to break them and it would be nice to continue to own one that is in prime condition. My Manicare Angled Brush will always be a favourite, I like dramatic liner and this basically does the job for me.

Other Stuff

I have a problem with expensive, scented candles. I buy them and never want to burn them. When I do finally start burning them I fall head over heels in love, Glasshouse Rio De Janeiro is a combination of Passionfruit and Lime and I want my whole world to smell like this.

Dishonourable Mentions

This shit can get out.
Please keep in mind that these are my personal opinions, if you love any of these products that's fine, you're allowed to love it, different strokes is what makes the world an interesting place.

Smith Street Market Candy Love Scented Body Lotion (WTF?) is a piece of shit, I'm not even joking. Not only is the pigment in it so high that it stains the skin, it has no scent. The package it came in also contained a shower puff (not shown) and it fell apart the first time I used it.

OPI Neon Revolution Mini Kit is also a massive disappointment, I don't feel they are true neon colours (except maybe the yellow, that could pass for a neon), they go on streaky as hell and there are only 4 colours in the kit, they opted to put in a clear top coat instead of a fifth coloured polish because you know, that makes sense! The only thing they got right with this was including a white base but even that is a shitty, sub-par product.

Nude By Nature continues to piss me off with their fail products, the mega fail winner of the two products is the Nature's Super Anti-Oxidant Foaming Cleanser, this stuff is so intensely drying that it makes me want to set the whole worlds supply of this product on fire. This shouldn't go near anyone's face, I handed it to my brother to wash his hands after working on the car and while it got all the engine grease off his hands he soon came to me asking if I had some hand cream he could borrow. The next shitty product is the Natural Tinted Mineral Moisturiser with Sunscreen (review), I hate this product simply because it doesn't tell you what kind of sun protection it contains (UVA, UVB.. both? neither? bullshit?) or the level of protection. Piss off.

Something I wanted to love but have had to accept is a shit product for me is Revlon Colourstay for Combination/Oily Skin (review). I like me a full coverage foundation but this is a yuck full coverage foundation, it's just so obviously fake and it's always wanting to have foundation parties in my lines. I just can't. Will save it for SPFX stuff.

Palmer's Cocoa Butter Formula Lip Balm Sunscreen Stick (review) gave me issues along the lines of bad reaction, lip cracking, flaky foulness. Not a fan.

The Essence Stays No Matter What Waterproof Eyeliner Pen dried up before I could even get a second use out of it so that can shove it.

Finally the Yes To Carrots C Me Blush Lip Tints just looked so manky on my lips I couldn't stand it, I like the minty scent but they dried out my lips then clung to all the dry skin they produced. Everyone wants to see me walk around with manky lips so I'll keep these! /sarcasm.

  1. Glasshouse candles are gorgeous! I took my Nude by Nature tinted moisturiser while I went overseas, I also hate how it doesn't tell you the level of spf!! grrr... it did nothing for my skin so I bought a compact powder. Aw no! I quite like palmer's sunscreen stick, mainly the chocolatey scent, a little bit waxy though.

    1. I liked the scent of the Palmer's balm too but it just didn't work out for me unfortunately, was a shame because I had two of them!

  2. Love your makeup picks, the foundation sounds great. And I 100% agree with your nail choices! With your fail products, the Palmer's lipbalm was crap for me too, made my lips burn. Yuck.

Btw don't worry about your derp moment...when I got my work roster for this fortnight I was like why does it go from 28th to the 1st?! Haha :(

  3. I've used the Organix Moroccan Argan Oil and found it too oily to use so I gave it to my mum because unlike myself she really likes it. Where do you get your Seche Vite from? I've been meaning to get my hands on them!

    1. The Organix Argan Oil is really heavy, especially the one I featured but it works well with my hair because it's so dry, I've been looking at others I want to try out so I doubt I'll buy it again straight away but it has been giving me good results so I'm quite pleased with it.

I buy my Seche products from a trade store in Melbourne, you can buy online too but they don't sell to the general public, you have to be an industry professional.
