February 2014 Lovers.

28 February 2014
Well shit, the end of Feb really snuck up on me. What really happened was I forgot Feb has 28 days and therefor didn't have my regular end of month posts ready when they should have been. Derp, derp, derp.

I've been loving a lot of the same stuff this month with just a few new additions (including shit products that need to get out of my life).

Hair

I don't wash my hair very often because I'm revolting, also because it's super dry and the best thing for it is to allow the natural oils my scalp produces to help strengthen my roots, I want naturally long, bleach blonde hair and therefor I'm willing to let it get dirty before I wash it so Batiste Dry Shampoo in Cherry is a staple product, L'Oreal Professional Expert Silver Shampoo keeps my blonde from looking yellow and maintains my white gradient while Herbal Essences Hello Hydration Rinse Off Treatment has been helping me to inject some moisture while washing without breaking the bank. Out of the shower John Frieda Full Repair Perfect Ends Deep Infusion (review) smooths my frizzy ends and lengths while promoting softness and I toss up between L'Oreal Elvive Extraordinary Oil and Organix Renewing Moroccan Argan Oil Extra Penetrating Oil depending on where I am in my bleach cycle.
My Tangle Teezer (review) is essential and I think everyone should own one!
When my hair needs extra shine but I'm getting close to wash day I opt for Tigi Bed Head Headrush because it's so lightweight and smells like candy and when it's time to tone my hair I grab my tub of Manic Panic Ultra Violet, I reckon I've saved about $100 in just the past month using this product instead of buying ready made toners.
Not pictured: Coconut Oil, this one was ready to go and then I dropped it on the kitchen tiles and it shattered, something else that shattered was my heart. I'm just glad it was almost empty.

Skincare

Dermalogica Daily Microfoliant has me falling deeper in love everyday, I find it actually cleans out those little plugs of crap that people like to call blackheads, I think they should be renamed Skin Demon Babies. La Roche Possay Hydreane Legere use to give me break out problems but after trying it out again before giving it the boot I discovered we get along well, it's a fantastic moisturiser that is an even better makeup base! Clarins Moisture Replenishing Lip Balm (review) is a winner this month, it tends to get pushed aside when a new lip product comes in to my life but when I pick it up again I wonder why I ever put it down. Trilogy Rosehip Oil Antioxidant+ and Trilogy Roseapene Night Cream (reviews) are still killing it and Lancome Genefique Yeux (review) is really impressing me, I'm sad it's almost empty because I know I can't afford more.

Makeup

Giorgio Armani Designer Lift (review) is shitting all over the other foundations I've been trying and the Revlon Just Bitten Kissable Balm Stains are seriously impressing me. Australis Velourlips in TOK-I-O is a recent addition to my collection and while the colour isn't extremely wearable I fucking love the wear time and scent, amazeballs. My Bobbi Brown Long Wear Gel Liner in Black Ink is on it's way out and I'm having issues letting it go so I've been using my Flormar Matte Mono Eye Shadow in Black as a liner more frequently and I reckon this is the most intense black shadow I have ever used. Bourjois Blush in Rose d'Or has been reached for frequently simply because I'm enjoying the soft shimmer it contains (but blush shouldn't have a rose scent. Stop it Bourjois) and Australis Tint My Brow in Blonde (review) has been keeping my out of control brows in check.

Body

Garnier Body Tonic Sugar Scrub has been a super fave this month, if the scent was more up my alley it would be contending with my HG scrub but I'm not a great fan of lemony scents, Vaseline Spray Moisturiser Dry Skin Repair is awesome and I've been having a heap of fun playing with it, Rexona Clinical Protection Deodorant has prevented me from being a stinky person so that deserves a mention and John Plunkett Eczema Cream was sent to me recently and it works better than any other product I've used in the past so fave status is well deserved.

Nails

Seche Vite and Seche Restore have both revolutionised my nail routine and collection, OPI Liquid Sands in Jinx (review) and Sally Hansen Gem Crush in Big Money are still gracing my phalanges and they continue to be my most reached for polishes.

Tools

I have recycled the following pictures from last month, mostly because my opinions haven't changed and also because I'm a horrible, lazy blogger!

Daiso Detergent for Puff and Sponge, when a product cuts the time it takes me to wash my brushes it deserves some props.

My Zpalettes are still making my life easier and encouraging me to use up products so I can buy more without feeling guilty!

The Real Techniques Buffing and Contouring Brushes are fantastic and I'm still deeply in love with my Illamasqua Angled Face Brush. I treat my Eco Tools Lash and Brow Comb with a high level of care an respect because I have a tendency to break them and it would be nice to continue to own one that is in prime condition. My Manicare Angled Brush will always be a favourite, I like dramatic liner and this basically does the job for me.

Other Stuff

I have a problem with expensive, scented candles. I buy them and never want to burn them. When I do finally start burning them I fall head over heels in love, Glasshouse Rio De Janeiro is a combination of Passionfruit and Lime and I want my whole world to smell like this.

Dishonourable Mentions

This shit can get out.
Please keep in mind that these are my personal opinions, if you love any of these products that's fine, you're allowed to love it, different strokes is what makes the world an interesting place.

Smith Street Market Candy Love Scented Body Lotion (WTF?) is a piece of shit, I'm not even joking. Not only is the pigment in it so high that it stains the skin, it has no scent. The package it came in also contained a shower puff (not shown) and it fell apart the first time I used it.

OPI Neon Revolution Mini Kit is also a massive disappointment, I don't feel they are true neon colours (except maybe the yellow, that could pass for a neon), they go on streaky as hell and there are only 4 colours in the kit, they opted to put in a clear top coat instead of a fifth coloured polish because you know, that makes sense! The only thing they got right with this was including a white base but even that is a shitty, sub-par product.

Nude By Nature continues to piss me off with their fail products, the mega fail winner of the two products is the Nature's Super Anti-Oxidant Foaming Cleanser, this stuff is so intensely drying that it makes me want to set the whole worlds supply of this product on fire. This shouldn't go near anyone's face, I handed it to my brother to wash his hands after working on the car and while it got all the engine grease off his hands he soon came to me asking if I had some hand cream he could borrow. The next shitty product is the Natural Tinted Mineral Moisturiser with Sunscreen (review), I hate this product simply because it doesn't tell you what kind of sun protection it contains (UVA, UVB.. both? neither? bullshit?) or the level of protection. Piss off.

Something I wanted to love but have had to accept is a shit product for me is Revlon Colourstay for Combination/Oily Skin (review). I like me a full coverage foundation but this is a yuck full coverage foundation, it's just so obviously fake and it's always wanting to have foundation parties in my lines. I just can't. Will save it for SPFX stuff.

Palmer's Cocoa Butter Formula Lip Balm Sunscreen Stick (review) gave me issues along the lines of bad reaction, lip cracking, flaky foulness. Not a fan.

The Essence Stays No Matter What Waterproof Eyeliner Pen dried up before I could even get a second use out of it so that can shove it.

Finally the Yes To Carrots C Me Blush Lip Tints just looked so manky on my lips I couldn't stand it, I like the minty scent but they dried out my lips then clung to all the dry skin they produced. Everyone wants to see me walk around with manky lips so I'll keep these! /sarcasm.

Empty! February 2014.

This month was the month of smashing through samples. After picking up both the David Jones Beauty Totes I felt it was really important to make my way through as many as I could because I'm seriously trying to avoid major sample hoarding because, you know, My name is Hailey and I have major fucking beauty hoarding problems.

Another thing I did was go through my bathroom cabinets and not just one of those half assed 'pull out a few things in front and try to finish them off' kind of deal, I pulled every single item out, checked the use by date and put them back in order of soonest expiring and amount of product left, so stuff will actually get finished!

Anyway, lets get to the real reason you're here, all the empty stuff I held on to all month and then took photos of, because we aren't weirdos.

Wella Pro Series Colour Conditioner - It's white and it's cheap (sounds like a good joke), picked it up because I've started making my own hair toner. Wouldn't use it as a conditioner because it's fairly crap but for diluting and carrying colour it's good enough.
Repurchase? Yes, for toning purposes only and even then I'd only buy it if it was on sale.

Smith Street Market Candy Love Body Wash - Smells kind of like generic candy, ie; sweet, and rinses off the body in pink foamy bubbles. Too much pigment Smith Street! Feel sorry for everyone who found this under the tree on Christmas Day.
Repurchase? Fuck no.

Ansell M/L Disposable Gloves - I powered through these in less than a month, they are fine but I can never find them in a small size and that pisses me off, also they are expensive.
Repurchase? No, I finally got my brain together and purchased gloves at a trade store, super cheap and the small size fits me like a glove. Snort.

Manicare Disposable Mascara Wands - These are good quality but not great for professional use, they are way too expensive. If you buy these for yourself then you should know they can be washed, sanitised and re-used, there is no reason to throw them away.
Repurchase? No, again something I buy from a trade store, these were picked up in an emergency.

Dare To Wear Cotton Tips - When I emptied out the last few cotton tips in this packet I was shocked that I had used almost 1000 cotton tips in less than a year, how? HOW!?!
Repurchase? Yes, although my usual place of purchase was out of stock so I had to buy a shitty little pack which will last me about 5 minutes.

Swisspers Cotton Balls - My fave cotton balls are the Swisspers Baby ones, they are so big!! But every time I go to buy them they are out of stock and the packs are too small for the amount I go through. Mum went ahead and purchased 2 packs of the Dare To Wear brand and I'm not so excited about using them because they look so small.
Repurchase? Yeah, probably but only because THE BABY ONES ARE ALWAYS OUT OF STOCK!!!

De Lorenzo Equilibrium Hair Masque - DL still make this but it's been reformulated and the packaging is different.
Repurchase? No because the new formula is shit not as good.

Clearasil Ultra Rapid Action Deep Pore Scrub - Love, want more.
Repurchase? Yes, just gotta make a dent in some of my other scrubs first.

Gorgeous Cosmetics First Base Primer - This was actually out of my freelancing kit but I was proud that I had used up a whole bottle, yay me! Not a bad primer, works brilliantly with the Gorgeous Cosmetics Foundations.
Repurchase? Possibly.

Hub Makeup Mascara - Another kit item, pretty crap, just doesn't do a whole lot for the lashes.
Repurchase? No.

Benefit They're Real Mascara - Wonderful! Right up there with the best mascaras I've tried.
Repurchase? Likely, but I already have a backup.

Benefit Boi-ing Concealer - Super favourite and must buy more!
Repurchase? Yes!

Skinvitals Q-Lift Face Mask - Really impressive! These do something! Review coming soon.
Repurchase? Yes.

Isocol Travel Spray - Staple product but I'm also kind of making the transition in to using 100% isopropyl so when the spray cap fell off this and I couldn't get it back on I didn't cry too much.
Repurchase? Not sure yet but leaning towards no.

Invite E Vitamin E Cream - Awesome cream for dry skin, lasted ages and really effective.
Repurchase? Not just yet, I have quite a few similar products to get through first.

Trilogy Vital Moisturising Cream - Really nice day cream, it took me a while to develop a love for this one but I was sad to see it go when I squeezed the last little drop out of the tube.
Repurchase? Yes, most likely in winter when dry skin starts to rear it's ugly head.

Samples, Samples, Samples!

Jennifer Lopez Live Luxe Perfume Cards x2 - I have too many perfume cards, it's ridiculous. I feel like they are useless but I got a days wear of new perfume from this, since I was craving something different that makes me happy. I will not bitch about these cards any more.
Repurchase? While it's a nice scent it's not something I desperately must own so not likely.

Avene Ystheal+ Emulsion - Facial moisturiser that is best used at night, contains retinol and supposed to help with signs of ageing. Was nice but obviously not large enough to see results.
Repurchase? Mmmm maybe, although knowing that Avene carries a product like this is handy and makes me a little more interested in the brand so it could probably lead to me throwing my money at them.

Kerastase Nutritive Lait Vital - Yay for foil packets! Sarcasm aside I really REALLY think this conditioner sample needed to be put in to a small bottle so that users could at least get 2 uses out of it, I think it was nice but I gotta say it's hard to tell with one use during a bleaching process. Also feel like I must mention the scent, it was bloody crap and I expected so SO much more from a Kerastase product.
Repurchase? I'm in love with everything Kerastase as it is so I have wanted to try this for a while now, it's peaked my interest enough to possibly throw my money at them too.

Elie Saab Le Perfum - I have no issue what so ever receiving perfume samples like this especially if they are eau de parfum, I tend to keep them for special events where I'll be carrying a bag that is just slightly bigger than my hand. It's a nice woodsy floral with some slight fruity notes. Delish.
Repurchase? I can't afford expensive perfume, so no.

Lancome Tresor Midnight Rose - I love this stuff so much and I covet it regularly.
Repurchase? When I'm rolling in disposable income I will totally buy this. Which will likely be never. On a serious note I do keep my eye out for specials that could make buying this perfume a little less painful.

Lancome Vissionaire - I Saturday Sampled this, ehh it wasn't impressive.
Repurchase? Pfft, no.

Lancome Advanced Genifique - Also Saturday Sampled (same link as above).
Repurchase? No, I'd prefer to buy Midnight Rose.

Giorgio Armani Designer Lift Foundation - I actually finished this ages ago, it must have fallen out of my empties bag because I found it behind my mirror and nearly sucked it up the vacuum cleaner. This was also Saturday Sampled.
Repurchase? Already have.

Designer Brands Paw Paw Plus - It was alright, I'm not big on paw paw ointment so I can't really compare it to anything.
Repurchase? Not likely, I just didn't find it exciting enough.

Pantene Aqua Light Conditioner - I ended up with what seemed like 100 samples of this, it smells great but isn't nourishing enough for my hair, likely to give most to mum because she loves her some Pantene! Might save a few for myself because my hair responds so well to a change in cleansing and conditioning products every so often even if they aren't suited to my hair.
Repurchase? No.

Mor Marshmallow Body Butter - Not bad, smells like musk sticks if you ask me. Really thick, hydrating and left my skin soft.
Repurchase? Nope, I like the product but the small isn't me and I don't want it all over my body.

Elemis Tri-Enzyme Resufacing Gel Mask - Nice enough, cooling and left my face feeling quite nice.
Repurchase? No, way out of my budget.

Mor Lychee Flower Body Butter - Delicious! Again hydrating and thick and ticks boxes scent wise for me.
Repurchase? Possibly.

Avene Gentle Body Scrub - Was ok, definitely gentle (read: not scrubby enough for me), would be great for those with sensitive skin. As far as I know this isn't available in Australia, came with a pack I purchased in France.
Repurchase? Nope.

Giorgio Armani Eyes To Kill Mascara - Review here. Awesome stuff!
Repurchase? Possibly, it's a little out of my price range at the moment but if I were choosing between this and Benefit's They're Real, I would spend extra for this.

Kerastase Bain Satin 1 Shampoo - Was ok, sample was too small to really grasp whether I liked it or not. Also it stinks.
Repurchase? Probably not.

What was in the deep, dark recesses of my bathroom cabinets?

Reef Coconut Sun Tan Oil SPF 15 - I do like me some tanning oil, just not expired ones. Not crying any tears over tossing this out as it was almost finished anyway. Must say it's a nice oil though and one I would go back to for sure.
Repurchase? Next time I'm in need I wouldn't hesitate.

Banana Boat Protective Tanning Oil SPF 15 - Another expired tanning oil, this is easily my favourite tanning oil of all time, it's just a shame it's not sold in Australia. Although I'm sad it has to go and I can't get more, this one is literally one or two sprays away from being empty.
Repurchase? Totally majorly yes a million times over.

Natio Brow and Lash Mascara - When I saw this I nearly threw up. It's supposed to be clear. Enough said.
Repurchase? From what I remember it was just ok, so probably not. Also I'm traumatised by what is potentially growing in there.

Dior Diorshow Unlimited - Don't ask me how old this is because I have no fucking clue!
Repurchase? I reckon this has probably been discontinued for the past decade.

La Prairie Skin Caviar Luminescent Veil - I was pretty sad when I pulled this out of the cabinet and saw how much was left in it, it looked like it had barely been touched and I have no clue what I was thinking. I remember it being amazing.
Repurchase? I believe this has been discontinued for a really looooong time.

Revlon Skinlights Face Illuminator - Oh look! A turn of the century Revlon product! I have a problem.
Repurchase? If I had a time machine I might consider it.

These products have made me consider leaving all of my products out in the open on counter tops, so perhaps they won't sit in hidden places for the next ten years.

Got any revolting old product stories to tell?

Revlon - Colourstay Combination/Oily Skin Foundation.

Revlon Colourstay has been around a damn long time, it was first released some time in the 90's (can't find exactly when) and in this time I have bought it just once, in the last quarter of 2013. How that is possible considering that I went through my teens and 20's with this being one of the most popular foundations and my mum consistently using it throughout my early childhood is beyond me.

Sanctuary Spa - Ultimate Facial Cleansing Oil.

27 February 2014
This post has been a long time coming, I've struggled badly to even find the right frame of mind to sit down and write about this particular product, for so long I disliked it but I feel like I can now review it without being super rough on it (but still a bit rough, for good reason!).

John Frieda - Full Repair Perfect Ends Deep Infusion.

25 February 2014
After trying a sample of John Frieda's Full Repair Shampoo & Conditioner I was keen to grab some other items from the range, I opted to try out the Perfect Ends Deep Infusion.

Saturday Sample - Triple Threat??

22 February 2014
I've been slowly making my way through my samples and as some exit, others enter, not that I'll complain about that! What has kind of puzzled me though is that I haven't used a sample in quite a while that I've actually liked (or disliked, 'cos sometimes those ones come with funny stories to tell). Anyway I still don't have any great samples that I want to talk about but I do have a trio of samples that surprised me in how completely average they have been for me (with one saving grace) and I'm hoping some of my readers will also have some opinions on these products.

Come Play With Me: Mad About Mattes.

21 February 2014
I don't think I do enough makeup related stuff on this blog so when I saw Indie over at Indieana had decided to do a fortnightly interactive makeup challenge I figured it could be fun to play along.

The current challenge is 'mattes' so I whipped out all my matte stuff and came up with this:

Australis - Tint My Brow.

19 February 2014
Ahh brows, sometimes I feel like the beauty world revolves around them, people (beauty mags) like to have a good old bitch about how thin hers are, how sparse those ones look and how unruly everyone else's are. The way I see it; brows are personal and it's nobody's fucking business other than your on how you choose to wear your brows, after all they are your brows, you own them and you do what you please with them!

Pinned It - Kinda Nailed It.

18 February 2014
I was looking online for post inspiration and I came across a blog post with a massive list of blog post ideas, one that really popped out at me was "Pinned It", the concept is to recreate something that you pinned on to Pinterest. This sounded like a good way to make all those hours I waste on Pinterest not so much of a waste so every now and then I'm gonna pick a pin and try to recreate it, this may actually encourage me to pin things rather than just spend hours each night in bed browsing the things others pin, which is mainly what I tend to do with my Pinterest account. I can not for the life of me find the original post that I saw this on, I really wanted to link the site because I believe giving credit where credit is due is really important but I didn't save the page because I'm a bit of an idiot at times. Forgive me!

I picked an awesome nail art pin, no pun intended with the post title, I just think I did an ok job.

The original pin that I chose is this one:

I opted to use my OPI Neon Revolution mini kit to do this manicure and I feel like I need to mention that the kit is not worth a pinch of shit and I really dislike it, there are only 4 colours in the kit so you need to mix a colour for your fifth nail (I mixed blue and yellow to make a deep green) if you don't want to double up and they aren't true neon colours, except the yellow, that is definitely neon. Ok now that I have that off my chest lets take a look at what I managed to do.

It wasn't overly difficult but it was tedious, the site the pin originates from is pshiiit.com and I couldn't find the original post but I had an idea of how this would be created; after painting the neon bases and allowing them to dry, apply nail art tape in the patterns you want to create and paint over the nails with black polish before carefully peeling off the tape and setting with a top coat. Easy, but making the tape sit where you want it to can be annoying.

Aside from being pissed off by the OPI polishes and getting tiny thin strips of tape stuck all over the place, I have to say that this went quite well. My tip would be do one finger at a time when it comes to sticking the tape on and painting over it, if the nail polish stars to dry before you peel the tape off you'll have all sorts of problems.

If you would like to follow me on Pinterest I would love to follow you back so I can see the things you love and get some more inspiration.

Maybelline - Fit Me Shine Free Foundation Stick.

17 February 2014
It's been many many years since I used a stick foundation and it's for no negative reason that I opted not to use them, I was just enjoying my liquids! When I saw Maybelline were bringing the Fit Me Shine Free Foundation Stick to Australia I was keen to try them so when they were released I got on my excite bike and made my way to Priceline.

FOTD - Valentine!

12 February 2014
I feel a bit silly doing a FOTD but I wanted to at least do something to show that I'm not a Bitter Betty towards this 'special day' (by the way, I am a Bitter Betty and I don't like Valentines Day, I have yet to create a memory of a lovely Valentines Day to tell my kids when I finally have them and therefor I'm pissed), so I thought I would show you the look I would wear if I had something special to do.

Overview: Tinted Sunscreen Moisturiser Thingies Part 2.

11 February 2014
Today I'll be taking a look at part two of these all-in-one type products, if you're interested in part one it can be found here.

Overview: Tinted Sunscreen Moisturiser Thingies Part 1.

10 February 2014
Right so it's Summer and we have to protect ourselves, most of us are busy and we like products that are an all-in-one type of deal so against my better judgement I'm gonna review some tinted moisturisers that contain SPF.

Tangle Teezer - Salon Elite.

7 February 2014
We're all well aware of Tangle Teezers. I was always curious about them but they weren't really something that I needed, my hair didn't tangle easily and if it did I could brush it out in seconds. I simply did not need a Tangle Teezer, now I know what you're thinking, what sort of weirdo beauty blogger doesn't buy the latest and greatest thing?? That would be me, I am that weirdo beauty blogger, I only buy stuff when I need it, need it or NEED IT. Yes they all have different meanings, I'm not going to spell it out because women already know what I'm talking about and just in case a man stumbles across this; I can't give away all our secrets.

Puretopia - Whisk Away Rehydrating & Moisturising Creamy Face Cleanser.

5 February 2014
So last Saturday I posted this sample review, it's a nice cleanser and if I were growing money trees in the back yard or out of my ass I would happily purchase it and use it, but money trees I have not, so cheaper options are necessary for me.

January 2014 Collective Haul.

3 February 2014
I bought a lot of shit last month. I like shopping.
