Because why not?

Blogmas: Essence Mascara Comparison & Review.

15 December 2013
10 days until Christmas, can you believe it? Thank God because I'm no where near ready! You might be able to tell that life is a little hectic considering how late in the day this post is.

Today I'm going to take a look at two Essence mascaras I picked up recently; I Love Extreme Crazy Volume Mascara & All Eyes On Me Multi-Effect Mascara.

I Love Extreme Crazy Volume Mascara.

This mascara retails for $4.95, very inexpensive and easily accessible. The wand is a big thick, plastic doodad with short plastic bristles. The packaging on this one is good, the wand screws in to place properly as you would expect from any mascara.

It does a decent job of separating and coating the lashes while giving a little volume and a decent amount of length. Sure it's no They're Real or Eye's To Kill but if I was in a pinch and needed a mascara to get me through I would happily buy this again.

It does a good job of lasting through the day but it will definitely transfer if you have oily lids so you'll need to powder to prevent that.

Transferring on my oily lids, only took about 15 minutes after applying so be prepared and set your eyelids with a translucent powder.

It's easily buildable, I just keep applying, back and forth between each set of lashes until I'm happy with how they look, but yes, it can clump if you apply too much like any mascara. It's easy to control if you apply many think coats rather than try to go in heavy straight off the bat.

It wears nicely and won't move around if you set the skin around your eyes properly.

All Eyes On Me Multi-Effect Mascara.

This mascara retails for only $3.50 and has a traditional fiber wand. The packaging on this is shit. When you screw the wand in it 'clicks' in to place, I suppose it's supposed to be like a safety locking mechanism so it can't come undone in your makeup bag and dry out but to me it feels flimsy and mine doesn't lock well at all. I can see this being a problem if it were your go-to mascara, if you're in a rush and don't close it properly or it does come undone in your bag it's going to dry out and possibly make a mess. I don't like.

This one is just ok, it's not great with the volumising but does a decent job of lengthening, again it's buildable but be aware of how much you are applying at once, it can and will clump if you don't take your time.

Transferring with this one was minimal but it still happens so set your skin! I believe the transferring is minimal because I can't get as much product on with this mascara.
Oily lids will still suffer but not as much, I actually had to wait longer to see transferring with this one, about 30 or so minutes (my base was the same so it wasn't anything to do with that). Again just set the area and you won't have any problems.

In conclusion I prefer the I love Extreme over the All Eyes on Me but to be honest they are both wearable, good value for money just be mindful of the transferring if you have oily lids and the packaging on the All Eyes On Me mascara.

Do you have a fave Essence mascara??

All Products were purchased by myself and I'm in no way affiliated with any of the companies mentioned unless otherwise stated. Links provided are for shopping examples only, I have personally purchased from some (not all) of these online stores but I highly recommend researching before buying.
