Because why not?

Clinique - All About Eyes.

11 November 2013
This year I decided to start using an eye cream, something that was targeted, good quality and would hopefully get me on the road of 'prevention is better than cure', Clinique is one of those go-to brands for me, along with Dermalogica and Clarins, my skin says yes.

When I was choosing an eye cream the main thing I looked for was something that claimed to reduce dark circles, you see I have hereditary, purple/blue circles under my eyes that I just despise. The Clinique All About Eyes cream claims to diminish the appearance of puffiness, dark circles, lines and shadows. Now when I'm choosing a product and I read the description of claims I read very, very carefully. When I read the box and noticed that it says 'diminish the appearance of' I thought about what that means, it's not claiming to fix any of it for good, it is claiming to reduce the severity of how they look. To me this says: After a period of use you will start to see results and when you stop using it your skin will return to it's natural state. These claims are believable to me so I gave the SA my money in exchange for future hope.

Excuse my dirty looking lid, it attracts fingerprints and hordes them for some unknown future use.
This cream/gel hybrid is damn nice. It smooths over the skin really easily, it has a little 'slip' to it so you're never tugging or pulling on the skin, the first ingredient on the list is a silicone so we have that to thank for the silky feeling it leaves, on first use I felt like this was going to hinder makeup application because it seems like it's not absorbing and leaving a slippery film on the skin but by the time I have applied the rest of my face cream and ready to go in with makeup it's perfect. As with all Clinique products it's fragrance free but it has that typical Clinique scent, if you have ever used a Clinique product you will know what I'm talking about, I'm not going to try to describe it, it's unique to Clinique products and reminds me of their counters in department stores and evokes a lux feeling.

My biggest issue with this product is that it is in a jar. I won't say any more on that subject.

I really didn't expect a whole lot when I read the packaging, let me explain:

  • Dark circles aren't usually something that is easily dealt with and most creams aren't really great at fixing them, especially if they are hereditary.
  • Shadows are caused by the obstruction of light by an object. This is an eye cream, not a portable light that will shine on your face at all angles preventing the formation of shadows.
  • Lines are lines, once they are there they stay there unless you go to extremes or use a product that contains a retinoid. This doesn't.
  • Puffiness isn't a huge problem for me but it's an added bonus, I felt confident this product could help with that at the very least.

After using this product for the most part of the year I'm confident that I can say it's just a nice hydrating eye cream, it's helped marginally with my dark circles, has done jack for my lines, shadows are still shadows and it definitely works for puffiness, it's light, refreshing (even more so if you keep it in the fridge) and the brand name makes you feel like you're doing something nice for the skin around your eyes, that's all.

Would I recommend it? Sure, if you have the disposable income, like brand names and need something hydrating for your eye area. If you are looking to reduce dark circles dramatically, look elsewhere, I will be doing the same once I've finished off this jar.

All in all, it's a nice product, I do like it. I will finish my jar and if I somehow ended up with another jar I would use that up too, but it's not a HG product for me, having said that it hasn't reduced my opinion of Clinique at all and I fully intend on trying out their Even Better Dark Circle Corrector once this jar has found it's way in to my empties bag.

Have you tried All About Eyes or the Dark Circle Corrector? Thoughts??

All Products were purchased by myself and I'm in no way affiliated with any of the companies mentioned unless otherwise stated. Links provided are for shopping examples only, I have personally purchased from some (not all) of these online stores but I highly recommend researching before buying.

    1. Thank you :) I wanted people to know it's a nice product but it's also an expensive product and that's something to be aware of when essentially all you are buying is an eye cream, I wouldn't be the slightest bit surprised if there was a comparable product on the market for a fraction of the price!
