Because why not?

2013 Project Pan Update #2.

30 September 2013
I'm struggling.

This no buying beauty related crap is really shit. I am however, a few steps closer to it being over thank God! As you may know I did already break my spending ban by buying the Miracurl, at the time I felt guilty and after using it I had a little buyers regret I guess, don't get me wrong, it's nice, I like it, I'll use it, etc, etc but seriously, I'm a gun with my trusty GHD, I can achieve curls that last for days with that thing whereas the Miracurl isn't as long lasting but does give a different effect.

Who am I kidding. I would have lusted after one of those new curlers until I finally got one anyway so at least that hurdle has been jumped.

Other things I am lusting after are:

Illamsqua's Hydraveil - I may actually just get this, my skin is up and down with its dry, flaky freak outs and it's probably a great time to try it out.
Foundation - I'm not sure which one I want, there are so many options and I'm putting it off until I'm a little lower on my current Illamasqua Skin Base. Christmas GWP options tempt me to wait another month or two as well.
Black Milk Noms - I'm not really on a clothing/fashion ban and I have picked up a few limited pieces on ebay recently but their HP releases have me crazy and I know the Halloween releases will have me shrieking like a banshee. Give me all the nylon.

I think I just need to breathe, make small purchases of non beauty related items on ebay and get through until my birthday in November and then Christmas. I just need to remember not to be psychotic when I do finally start buying again, the next few months will offer a lot of bang for your buck when you shop smart, it's just a matter of not turning in to a money throwing idiot when I step inside Myer's or DJ's.

So now that you know I'm going a little not-allowed-to-shop stir crazy, let's take a look at what I finally finished this month.

 # 11 Kerastase Nectar Thermique - My Holy Grail hair product, makes my hair silky soft, smooths my frizzies, de-crisps my ends, adds shine and prevents further damage without being heavy and smells good to boot. Pricey but worth it. Looking forward to finishing up some similar products so I can justify buying this again.
Repurchase? Oh Yeah.

 # 12 Cutex Moisture Guard Nail Polish Remover - This is supposed to protect nails against breakage. It doesn't as far as I'm concerned. Just another nail polish remover but I feel that about most available on the market. Honestly I don't really expect or want a nail polish remover to do anything other that remove my chipped, grown out, ratty looking nail polish. Just do your job.
Repurchase? Yeah probably.

# 13 Sally Hansen Double Duty Base and Top Coat - The only thing this does well is add a bit of extra shine. Oh wait..It also is totally amazing at lifting, chipping, peeling and lasting less than 24 hours, also it drys out quickly in the bottle, becomes gluggy and hard to use and when it is finally in this state it takes 3 hours to dry properly if you do try to use it up. I gave up and am tossing this with just a little under 1/3rd of the product left, I have an unopened bottle in my stash. Sigh.
Repurchase? No.

# 14 The Body Shop Moringa Body Butter - I went through this so quickly, my skin loved it, my nose loved it, I want to try more! I'm currently transitioning between hater of body moisturiser and lover of body moisturiser, some I use and love (like this), others I want to set on fire with a blow torch.
Repurchase? Yes, this scent and and others I want to try. With summer coming I'm not sure they will be suitable since it's very thick but that's a mute point right now because I literally have about 20 unopened bottles of body lotion in my stash. Horrendous.

# 15 Elizabeth Arden 8 Hour Cream Lip Protectant Stick SPF 15 - Holy Grail. Amazing. Lips love.
Repurchase? Yes, yes, yes. Want to try some of the sheer tint range. Have to use up some of my million unopened balms first.

# 16 Head & Shoulders Smooth & Silky Shampoo - Always have a bottle of this handy, I don't often get dandruff but a couple times a year my scalp chucks the shits and this helps.
Repurchase? Yes. Have a trial sized H&S in my shower to use up first though.

Deluxe Samples:

# 17.1 & 17.2 Clear Scalp & Hair Nourishing Shampoo & Conditioner - I'm a fan! Cheap, effective, smells nice, tick, tick, tick. Full review here.
Repurchase? Yes.

# 17.3 Benefit Moisture Prep Toning Lotion - Ended up with this and the day moisturiser again after a lovely SA popped them in my bag after a purchase. I struggled to finish it, was no longer much loved after starting to use Hydraluron.
Repurchase? No.

# 17.4 Estee Lauder Double Wear Zero-Smudge Lengthening Mascara - Love. Just love so, so much. The tube formula is awesome. Want more and probably in a position to buy it soon since I'm getting quite low on mascaras now.
Repurchase? In a heart beat! EL bring on the GWP so I can grabby grabby.

# 17.5 Colgate Total Floss - My favourite floss, wasn't difficult to use this up.
Repurchase? For sure, have a full sized one currently in use and can't see myself changing brands any time soon.

So I'm kinda almost there, I still need to use up 13 more products, I had quite a few that were close to making this list but they have been put aside because my skin hates them at the moment. Must finish stuff so I can buy again!!! Just so you know, spending bans are shit and I doubt I will do another one ever again (at least until I forget about how horrible this experience is and my stash has reached crazy hoarding lady proportions).

Any tips for getting past the urge to buy every single thing I see when I'm out?

  1. Keep up the good work, you are doing so well! I don't get too crazy because lack of space means I start to get stressed out when things get overwhelming...that (together with damn bills) keeps my shopping to a minimum!

Trust me, you will be there before you know it!

    1. Thanks Nalini! I got to toss another product in my empties bag yesterday, with each one comes a little more joy hahaha. I'm also swamped with an excess of products and I literally do not need a single thing at the moment, I think it's just the fact that I have set these rules for myself that I have such a strong urge to buy everything I see, I just keep telling myself that I will have a great christmas!
