Because why not?

Lust Have It July 2013 - Prize!

19 August 2013
This box was sent to me courtesy of Lust Have It and Nalini over at who hosted a competition giving away 10 boxes, one of which I was lucky enough to receive! Big thank you to Lust Have it and Nalini for reawakening a monster that I had managed to suppress for a long time haha!

I gave up monthly subscription boxes a long time ago and the main reason was that I simply couldn't afford to feed my habit anymore, something else that helped me cancel my subs was the fact that I just had too many products and I had grown tired of receiving the same items sometimes month after month in multiple boxes. With that said I don't want anyone to think I don't like these subscription boxes, it's the exact opposite in fact, I just adore them to pieces and if I had the disposable income I would sub again in a heartbeat.

Since when have LHI boxes been so gorgeous?!?! I love the little magnetic clasp flip top, absolutely gorgeous and I know I won't have trouble finding another use for it. Was there a particular reason LHI stopped providing products in their little makeup travel bags? If anyone knows can you fill me in down in the comments?

On opening my box I see the info card AKA Frisbee. I never look at these unless there is a product that completely confuses the hell out of me. What I do is pick it up and fling it across the room in excitement. Avoid doing this if there is someone in close proximity, the corners can hurt if they are in the firing line.

The opening of the tissue paper is then ceremoniously celebrated with the 'excitement dance', This involves running on the spot and shaking my head back and forth until I feel slightly faint.

And finally I evaluate the contents, this involves lots of 'OMG', 'EEEEEEEE' and the occasional 'WTF..' (WTF involves searching for the information card, sometimes this is a difficult task especially if you weren't watching when you flung your Frisbee)

So what did I find in my box of yay??

Swisse Hand Cream - I have 500 tubes of hand cream. Not really, but I do have a lot and I've only recently started using them but I'm keen to try this because I haven't used any Swisse skin care products in the past and hand creams are a good place to start, they generally can't be crap. I would comment on what I think of it but the tube is sealed and I don't want to be opening yet another product while I already have one that needs to be used up.

Nude By Nature Natural Tinted Moisturiser With Sunscreen - I don't like Nude products, just putting it out there. Will I try it? Absolutely. I'm a firm believer of giving brands another go. Again tube is sealed, want to get through open moisturiser first.

NatraSan Antibacterial Instant Hand Sanitiser - Being a MUA I use hand sanitiser all the time so this is super handy for me. Generally I use the Dettol Instant Hand Sanitiser gel but I'm not adverse to trying new brands. This one is a liquid and has chamomile and apple blossom with the latter being obvious in the scent, once the product has dried the scent lingers without being hugely obvious and you can no longer smell the alcohol in the product - Really like this and would definitely consider buying in the future.

Goldwell Stylesign Hot Form Heat Styling Lotion - Heat protectant and strengthening lotion, you'd be damn hard pressed to get me away from my Kerastase Nectar Thermique but since I'm running low on it I will give this a burl before running to the shops to restock. It smells quite nice, I suppose a fruity/floral scent, you'll have to forgive me I'm just plain shit when it comes to describing what I smell unless it's absolutely obvious or written on the packaging.

Condition Culture Knotties - Ahh my freakin' gaaawwwd! I love Knotties! I had a black one that was like my life line, I always had it in my hair or on my wrist. Then I lost it and my life was over. One thing I have to say about these is while they are great they aren't really a miracle and I have been known to pick up elastic scraps at Spotlight to fashion my own since losing my first (beloved) Knottie.

Condition Culture Coloursmash Hair Shadow - Ahhh hair chalk, I suspect the people that first put this out on the market thought it would explode with popularity but if you've ever used one you will know that they aren't worth the hassle they create. First of all application is messy, then you are left with hair that feels like it went to play in the Sahara Desert and finally after a little while you realise that your hair is more than willing to share the fun of it's new found colour with your skin and clothing. Even when it's set to death with hair spray this stuff moves around and it's just a mess. Now that you know all the down sides you might be surprised to know that I have quite a few hair chalks in my freelance kit and this one will be coming in handy too. They are good for photo shoots, something temporary that looks great when under strict control but it won't be making an appearance in my day to day hair styling.

Maqui Berry Active - I like health food crap. 'Nuff said.

So I love my little box, it has delivered a lot of joy and I'm dying to sub to every box I can find but I just can't afford it so I will battle my subscription box monster until it hibernates again. One day I will let him free though and I will be swimming in the joy that is monthly sample boxes!

Again, Thank You Nalini and Lust Have It! Don't forget to pop over to Nalini's blog and have a read, that girl knows what she's doing.

All Products were purchased by myself and I'm in no way affiliated with any of the companies mentioned unless otherwise stated. Links provided are for shopping examples only, I have personally purchased from some (not all) of these online stores but I highly recommend researching before buying.

  1. Great review, Hailey! I'm so glad you loved your prize box! Thanks again for entering!

I know what you mean re the Frisbee, I usually am in too much of a hurry to see what's in my box to pay the cards much attention! I do pay attention to my info card (it helps prolong the suspense) but the discount vouchers usually don't get much attention. :P

I am going to save my hair smash for a day when I'm going to wash my hair anyway.

Thank you also for your kind words!

    1. Definitely a good time to try the hair smash! And perhaps wear a top you don't mind getting dirty if your hair will be touching your clothes. They are super fun and great for a temporary change but they are messy! haha
