Because why not?

Vichy Normaderm - Anti-Imperfection Moisturiser.

29 June 2013
Ahhh French skincare.. J'adore! But not because it works.

So I have a LOT of skin care products made by French brands and I really love them but I seem to have a little problem...

Primarily it's the moisturisers that give me issues. I don't know what it is but I've not found one that hasn't given me a problem. From tiny little pussy (revolting I know) spots within a few hours to horribly painful blind pimples within 24 hours that take weeks to get rid of. Really this is my problem though and not yours and I'm not going to let it get in the way of reviewing a product that I otherwise really like.

Introducing Vichy Normaderm Global Anti-Imperfection Hydrating Care.

This product claims that after 4 weeks of use the appearance of the skin is transformed, imperfections are reduced, pore size is visibly reduced and the skins surface is smooth and even.

Let's look at some pros and cons.

Pros:
  • Beautiful fresh and revitalising scent.
  • Does an excellent job at hydrating - Seems to leave a protective film over the skin.
  • Leaves skin soft.
  • Helps to control my oily skin.
  • Makes a great night cream.
  • Non comedogenic - Then why is it giving me issues? Ok, ok, I know it's not clinically proven that non comedogenic products won't cause breakouts but I've not had an issue before so I was confident this would be ok for me.
  • Paraben free.

Cons:
  • It's quite thick, couldn't imagine using it during summer.
  • Not a great makeup base, people claim it is but I found once it has set it can produce a pilling effect when makeup is applied over it. I don't know if this happens with certain foundation formulas or what but it's not cool.
  • Can feel a little sticky after applying but it does eventually set. I can't stand sticky stuff on my face but that is a personal preference.

Conclusion: I like it. Breakouts or not, it's a nice product. I've currently given this two trials, both only a week long before I had to put it aside to clear up my skin and I've decided not to continue using it, I desperately wanted to hit the 4 week mark to give it a proper review but it's just not suited to my skin. Do I think this could be a great product for others? Yes, absolutely! In no way does this product affect my feelings towards other Vichy products either, their micellar waters are brilliant and I'm keen to get my hands on more of their products, even the moisturisers ;)

What is your favourite French skin care brand? Any products you would recommend trying?
