Because why not?

Empty! December 2013.

31 December 2013
Gosh, can you believe another year has gone? I don't know how the hell it disappeared so quickly.

Although I am slightly annoyed that time seems to be speeding up as I get older I do enjoy the fact that as time passes my products become empty bottle and tubes because when something is gone I get to try something new!

Blogmas: Merry Christmas!

25 December 2013
I hope you have all had a most wonderful day! I did, even though I spent most of it in a hot kitchen while it was 30 odd degrees outside, it's all been worth every second.

Blogmas: Secret Santa and The Best Things About Christmas.

24 December 2013
A little while ago I received this in the mail.

It was sent to me by a member of the Beauty Heaven forums, a group of us signed up to play Secret Santa and it was extremely difficult resisting the urge to open an unknown gift, you see I usually know what is under the tree for me each year, so the wait is generally an easy one, but this gift had an air of mystery about it, not only did it hold untold goodies but it also brought with it the memories of Christmas as a child.

When we are little we are all caught up in the presents and lollies, the wonder of a jolly fat man and the delightful stories of Rudolph, Jesus' birth and Frosty the Snowman (even though we don't experience a white Christmas). These are the things that make us love Christmas, this love grows from precious memories created by other people who want to bring joy to our lives, primarily our parents, grandparents, close relatives and family friends.

As we get older we learn that Christmas isn't really about gifts, it's about making people feel loved and special, spending time with family and friends and stuffing our faces until we can't move, but I think when you can combine the wonder of Christmas as a child and the fulfilling experience of Christmas as an adult that's when you truly understand the blessing that is Christmas.

Without further ado I bring you the gift that made me feel like a little kid at Christmas.

Thank you Secret Santa, you really must be Santa to have picked such a perfect gift for me. What a wonderful time of the year!

I'd like to wish all my readers a very Merry Christmas, I hope you all have a wonderful day and don't forget to tap in to your inner child xxx.

Blogmas: Let The Madness Begin...

23 December 2013
The end of Blogmas grows near and it's a bit of a relief, not because it has been difficult or a burden, quite the opposite actually, I've burned through so many reviews and ideas that I'm running out of material. I have a few items in my review pile but I honestly feel like I need more time to come to a solid conclusion as to how I feel about them.

I've loved Blogmas, it'll definitely be a permanent feature for as long as I blog, there were a few speed bumps along the way but I managed to get a post up every day now for 23 days. I'm such a proud little blogger.

I will continue to have posts up tomorrow, on Christmas Day and even on Boxing Day, then I'll be having a little break until the 31st when I will do my usual empties post. The next few days posts are going to be very laid back though because I'm friggin' knackered.

Me right now.

Blogmas: Repairing A Broken Nail.

22 December 2013
Once upon a time there was a little girl, she went to her mother one day and said "Everyone bites their nails so I'm going to as well". That little girl stuck to her guns and bit her nails constantly until she was in her late teens until one day she turned to her mother and said "I want to have beautiful nails, I'm going to stop biting them", it was extremely difficult for her to stop her bad habit but eventually her nails started to grow and with every millimeter they grew she developed a little extra will power to keep her nails away from her mouth. Her hard work payed off and she got her wish, dainty feminine nails graced her finger tips. She felt like she could rule the world and knew that anything she put her mind to was achievable.

Blogmas: Beauty Hacks.

21 December 2013
One of the most common questions I get from clients is: Do you have a trick for (insert everything and anything beauty related here)? Most of these are easily answered and widely known by people who are interested in makeup and beauty products but there are a few that are both weird and not commonly used. Occasionally when I'm working on a photo shoot things pop up that need to be dealt with on the spot and today I'm going to bring you just a few of my weirdest beauty hacks, all of which I have used, most multiple times. I'll let you use your imagination as to why I needed to use these solutions.

Blogmas: Daiso - Angel's Eye Demi Lashes.

20 December 2013
I love Daiso and I love lashes, when you put the two together it can be a bit hit and miss though. Last time I visited Daiso I picked up a twin pack of the Angel's Eye Demi Lashes and today I'm going to let you know whether they are worth the $2.80 price tag ha!

Blogmas: Festive Eyes.

19 December 2013
I tried to create this post last week but rude people got in the way, I went about my day with gold eye shadow, false lashes and all the other trimmings while lifting heavy objects and getting rained on. I was so pissed and I learnt that if you're going to do a post like this you better be prepared to tell people to get the hell away from you until you are done taking a million photos and making sure everything is perfect.

Blogmas: Beauty Heaven Best In Beauty Prize.

18 December 2013
I'm quite torn about posting this. I don't want to come across as though I'm showing off but I know there are people who are going to want to see this, those people are just like me in the sense that we get a lot of enjoyment out of large hauls and other peoples joy. Also I freakin' love checking out photos of these prizes.

Blogmas: Festive Pedicure.

17 December 2013
Welcome to blogmas day 17!

Before I started blogmas I thought often about the sort of posts I would want to do, among them were manicure and pedicure ideas, as I started writing posts the pedicure idea moved further and further down the list every day. You see I don't like gaudy toe nail art, the idea just makes my skin crawl and I struggled to come up with an idea that I would be happy to wear because once my toes are done, they are done for at least a week and there is no way in hell I'm doing my toes more than once a week.

Blogmas: Trilogy - Rosapene Day & Night Collection.

16 December 2013
I'm really excited to be reviewing the Trilogy Rosapene Day & Night Collection today, so excited I almost pee'd a little bit (not really).

Blogmas: Essence Mascara Comparison & Review.

15 December 2013
10 days until Christmas, can you believe it? Thank God because I'm no where near ready! You might be able to tell that life is a little hectic considering how late in the day this post is.

Today I'm going to take a look at two Essence mascaras I picked up recently; I Love Extreme Crazy Volume Mascara & All Eyes On Me Multi-Effect Mascara.

Blogmas: Saturday Sample.

14 December 2013
I can't believe I've managed to get through 14 days of posting every day, I was so excited to do Blogmas but I had a nagging little voice in the back of my head saying it would be too hard and I'd fail.. Apparently I wasn't giving myself enough credit.

Today's sample of Lipikar Baume AP came to me from La Roche-Posay a few months ago when I was sent a couple products to trial, they kindly included some sample sachets of other products in the range to try out and this week they definitely came in handy.

Something weird happened to my legs a while ago, I believe I had an allergic reaction to a popular brand of moisturiser which I suspected I was allergic to from past use but like an idiot I decided to give it another go. The weirdest part is that it only effected the lower half of my legs and only on the front along my shins. My body is a weirdo.

So anyway after clearing the rash I was left with skin that resembled a lizard. So sexy.

My current moisturiser was doing jack so I decided it was perfect timing to bring out the big guns. Lipikar Baume AP is supposed to 'rebuild skin's moisture barrier and stop the vicious cycle of itchy skin'.

"Lipikar Baume AP has an ultra-absorbing texture, is able to replenish lipids in the most severely dry skin in record time and contains high concentrations of Shea Butter to nourish skin and Niacinimide to break the vicious cycle of itchy skin"
Unfortunately I can't really comment on the itch issue as I didn't start off with this problem, although while using this on my lizard legs I've also been using it on the eczema flare up on my feet and usually if a cream works on my eczema as it's supposed to it actually makes it itchy (I have weird eczema like the rest of me), basically what happens is the cream helps to repair my skin and the eczema reverts to the first stages of the condition which are tiny little itchy bumps which drive me completely insane because the itch is constant and so intense, there is no way to get rid of it other than to allow the condition to become 'severe' and in turn become really dry and unsightly. It's the shittiest friggin' catch 22 situation and I've lived with it for years.

Nothing ever really worked for my eczema, some would make it revert to the first stage which I actually don't want and others did nothing except make my feet slippery. Lipikar Baume AP on the other hand has had a small effect on the condition of my feet, for starters it hasn't made my condition revert to the first stage which I love but it has helped ever so slightly with the appearance of the skin, while I still have dry flaky patches the skin feels a lot softer and I'm not embarrassed to wear open shoes now.

As for my lizard legs, this is where I knew for sure that this was a really great product, I had tried all sorts of creams to help soften the scaly skin, nothing worked, everything was shit and I was starting to get pissed at the whole situation. When I finally used the Lipikar Baume AP I tried not to get my hopes up. It wasn't until the third day of applying that I noticed it was working, I had showered and exfoliated as per usual and I was just about to put more cream on when I noticed the scaly skin was gone in patches and lifting in other areas. I could have cried.

Here I am on day 5 writing this review that was supposed to be quick but of course turned in to an essay and my legs are normal again, they are my legs and I don't look like a lizard/human hybrid. How wonderful!

The consistency is nice, it feels just like any normal moisturiser, not too thick or thin and without any discernible scent.
There is one issue with this cream that I really don't like.. It leaves a residue, I'd call it greasy. It's annoying and I don't like it but when I consider how well it works I feel like it's a small price to pay, I've never used a moisturiser that works quite this well on seriously dry skin and it's something I would let slide for real results in a timely manner.

La Roche-Posay Lipikar Baume AP retails at $37.99 for 400ml and can be found in Priceline stores and selected pharmacies.

All Products were purchased by myself and I'm in no way affiliated with any of the companies mentioned unless otherwise stated. Links provided are for shopping examples only, I have personally purchased from some (not all) of these online stores but I highly recommend researching before buying.

Blogmas: Mecca Cosmetica - Showered With Praise Softening Body Wash.

13 December 2013
Why are there only 12 days of Christmas? And when does it start and end? From the 1st to the 12th or the 13th to the 24th? Maybe somewhere in between? What about Christmas day, surely that is supposed to be involved since it's the most important day of all! Please if someone could explain this completely flawed concept to me I would really appreciate it.

So it's Friday the 13th and I'm gonna have a bit of a bitch about a product..

Blogmas - Girlie Stocking Stuffers

12 December 2013
On the twelfth day of Christmas my true love gave to me.. A stocking stuffed with girlie goodies!

Custom Christmas Stockings available at HungByTheChimney's Etsy Store.

Blogmas: Beautyheaven.com.au Beautorium Haul.

11 December 2013
On the eleventh day of Christmas Beauty Heaven gave to me.. My freakin' Beautorium haul!!!!!!!!

Right, very quick run down of what beautyheaven.com.au is and what the hell a Beautorium is for those who have been living under a rock..

Blogmas: Festive Food - Strawberry Santa Claus.

10 December 2013
On the tenth day of Christmas my true love gave to me.. Food, Glorious Food!

I like food. I like everything to do with it. Buying, preparing, cooking, eating, sharing, throwing..

Blogmas: Grace Cole - Fruitworks Passion Fruit & Guava Shower Gel.

9 December 2013
On the ninth day of Christmas my true love gave to me.. Delicious shower gel!

Grace Cole is a new brand to me, I first noticed it a couple of weeks ago at Chemist Warehouse, I was after a shower gel and wanted something completely new.

Blogmas: Lush - Ultrabland.

8 December 2013
On the eighth day of Christmas my true love gave to me.. A product that I struggle with.

I've been trying to incorporate Lush Ultrabland in to my cleansing routine and I am seriously on the fence about this one.

Blogmas: Saturday Sample.

7 December 2013
On the seventh day of Christmas my true love sent to me.. Samples!

I was sent two trial packs of Simple Kind To Skin Cleansing Facial Wipes to try out by The Soup recently.

Blogmas: Festive Nails.

6 December 2013
On the sixth day of Christmas my true love sent to me.. Festive Christmas nails.

This post taught me one thing: I do not have enough glitter polish.

Blogmas: Essence - Match 2 Cover Cream Concealer.

5 December 2013
On the fifth day of Christmas my true love gave to me.. Super affordable concealer!

Essence is a new brand to me, I've been seeing and hearing about it for a long time but it was only recently that I took the plunge and made some purchases. I didn't expect much really, these products are probably some of the cheapest on our shelves in Australia along with a few other brands, these other brands I've tried have left me feeling less than excited to venture in to the world of cheap makeup again; hard lip and eye liners, chalky eye shadows and blushes, stinky, flaky and just plain horrible mascaras.. The prices are so irresistible with most of these brands but the products are borderline unusable.

Blogmas: A Trip Down Memory Lane - Christmas Cartoons.

4 December 2013
On the Fourth day of Christmas my true love gave to me.. Nostalgic cartoons!

I clearly remember the joy that Christmas cartoons would bring to me as a small child and I still appreciate them to this day. I spent a lot of time searching for my favourites to add to my collection but many can be found online for your instant viewing pleasure. Since I'm not fully educated on the laws regarding embedding Youtube videos that don't belong to me I'm going to take the safe road and just post links to some high quality, old school cartoons that make me think of my childhood and shit all over the cartoons of today.

Rudolph, The Red-Nosed Reindeer - Watch on Youtube

Nestor, The Long Eared Christmas Donkey - Watch on Youtube

Berenstein Bears Christmas Tree - Watch on Youtube

How The Grinch Stole Christmas - Watch on Youtube

Frosty The Snowman - Watch on Youtube

The Little Drummer Boy -Watch on Youtube

A Garfield Christmas Special - Watch on Youtube

'Twas The Night Before Christmas - Watch on Youtube

My memory screams that I'm missing some but I just can't recall what they are, every year I scour the internet for hours at a time looking for cartoons that are familiar and while my personal collection is significantly larger than what is shown here I still know it's incomplete, the only thing that is getting in the way is my memory, so please, for the love of Christmas, do let me know if you recall any favourites just in case they are the ones leaving a gaping hole in my collection.

Blogmas: Lush - Angels On Bare Skin.

3 December 2013
On the third day of Christmas my true love gave to me.. Nice clear skin!

I have been meaning to blog about this product for weeks. It sits in my bathroom either by the sink or in the shower, depending on where I used it last and since it's not kept in my room where I do most of my 'pretty-ing up', it's mostly out of sight.. which means it is mostly out of mind. You should know that just because I don't think about this product other than when I'm about to use it, doesn't mean that I don't have a lot to say about it.

Blogmas: Empty! November 2013.

2 December 2013
On the second day of Christmas my true love gave to me... A bag of trash!

I didn't finish much off this month, mostly things got put aside for new products so I think it'll be a while before I have a large empties post again.

I like looking at other peoples garbage and I figure you're here because you feel the same way so let's not waste any time.

Blogmas: November 2013 Collective Haul.

1 December 2013
On the first day of Christmas my true love sent to me.. A bunch of goodies! (not really).

Saturday Sample.

23 November 2013
I think I've found it.

The One

Sanctuary Spa - Spa Essentials Body Scrub.

21 November 2013
Sanctuary Spa is one of those brands that appears to me like it would be really effective, super high quality and give a lot of high end brands a run for their money. I'm not sure what makes me think this, probably a combination of the brand name and mostly elegant, yet simple packaging.

Palmer's - Cocoa Butter Formula Lip Balm Sunscreen Stick.

19 November 2013
I wasn't going to review this, I was going to throw it in the bin. Enough said? No.

Vichy - Oligo 25 Eyes Anti-Fatigue Cooling Effect Stick.

15 November 2013
This is a bit of a weird product and I picked it up solely for that reason, I've never seen anything quite like it, usually cooling eye products are dispensed from a tube with a metal tip that provides the cooling sensation but this just looks like a short, fat little lip balm. You twist up the base, run it around your eye contours, pat it in and off you go, I'm getting ahead of myself here.

Rewind.

Clinique - All About Eyes.

11 November 2013
This year I decided to start using an eye cream, something that was targeted, good quality and would hopefully get me on the road of 'prevention is better than cure', Clinique is one of those go-to brands for me, along with Dermalogica and Clarins, my skin says yes.

Schwarzkopf Extra Care - Dry Spray Range..

7 November 2013
I was lucky enough to be sent the 3 Schwarzkopf Extra Care spray in products (dry shampoo, dry conditioner and dry oil) to trial by Beauty Heaven. I quite liked all of them initially and I guess I still do but with time comes new opinions and I do love to tell folks just what I think.

Left to Right: Dry Shampoo, Dry Oil & Dry Conditioner.

October 2013 Collective Haul.

1 November 2013
There has not been much buying recently but in the last few days of October I picked up just a few things, it's not very exciting in the way of hauls but I'm actually quite proud of that. You see I usually shop with my mum and she is the kind of person to enable me by saying 'have whatever you like' and in reality I do want to buy everything because I'm a freak like many beauty bloggers, we mostly can't help ourselves when it comes to wanting everything (don't take offence, you know it's true) but we also know that life demands money outside of beauty products and since mum and I work together to produce our income I do know that big shopping trips can hurt us for the week ahead so I try to restrain myself as best I possibly can.

November also brings with it my birthday and that means gifts, mostly gifts that mum lets me choose and pays for, so while at the shops this week I kept this in mind. Now lets look at the things!!

2013 Project Pan Update #3

31 October 2013
So I've worked out how to resist the urge to buy things! The trick is not to go anywhere near shops. I will have no haul for the month of October because I have not bought a single thing I actually finished!!! I finished the freakin' spending ban!!! Ahh mahh gawd! I picked up some essentials and a few treats as a reward for being a good girl so there will be a little haul post for October. Go me!

JoBaz - Hair Colour Remover Max Stength.

28 October 2013
Now for something a little different. I'm going to be writing this post up in real time, I want to post it tonight and show you the results right after the process has been completed. Are you excited? You're potentially about to see someone totally stuff up their hair. Now you're excited aren't you? Yup, me too!

Saturday Sample.

26 October 2013
It's the freakin' weekend and time for another Saturday Sample!!

I actually wanted to post this last week but I was lazy. I was also drinking and watching the Caulfield Cup but mostly I was just lazy.

Halloween How? Face/Body Paint.

25 October 2013
Using face or body paint this Halloween? Let's break down your options.

Halloween How? Blood.

24 October 2013
I know we don't really celebrate Halloween in Australia, which I think is a crying shame.
Although, if you are of drinking age then you have probably become aware over the years that it is a fantastic excuse to throw a party where everyone can get dressed up in fantastic costumes that hide the shame that comes with getting pissy.

Saturday Sample.

12 October 2013
This is a bit of a rant post. I've read it over and over and tried to edit it and I just keep coming back to the same rant so I have come to the conclusion that I have to get it off my chest. You can consider this a bit of a dear diary post if you like, you might get a bit of insight in to how nutty I am at the moment.
I ran out of Hydraluron last week. If my life was currently normal it wouldn't be an issue, I'd just go buy more, but my life isn't normal right now and money is super tight, yes, so tight that I can't even afford a product that has become a staple in my routine. FML.

Elastoplast - Therapeutic Heat Pad.

11 October 2013
Last month I reviewed the Libra Hotties Heat Patch. The concept is great but it didn't quite meet my expectations. I was going through my sample box a little while ago looking for things I could try out on my new, dry-as-all-hell, skin and discovered I had an Elastoplast Heat Pad, I instantly knew when and how I was going to put this to the test. Let the waiting begin.

Saturday Sample.

5 October 2013
Nivea In-Shower Rich Body Lotion, we've all heard about it, most have tried it and then there is me who's slow. When Nivea offered samples (I think on FB?) I jumped at the chance to receive one.

Upcycling - Jeans To Shorts.

4 October 2013
I love me some denim. I tend to develop a deep love for my jeans because it's so damn hard for me to find pairs that fit right. I, unfortunately, tend to wear them to death and even when they are torn and ratty I will try to resuscitate life back in to them because there is nothing in the world like denim that you have broken in. Nothing. Like. It.

2013 Project Pan Update #2.

30 September 2013
I'm struggling.

Skin Problems, Learning To Adapt And A Confession.

24 September 2013
Thought I'd do something a little different today and just write a really long, crappy, novel version of what's going on in a small part of my life, so if you like reading crap and want to see some pictures then this post is perfect for you, unless you don't like swearing.

DuoDERM - Hydrocolloid Dressing.

22 September 2013
In my last post I talked about Nexcare's range of hydrocolloid acne patches. Today I'm going to introduce you to a standard hydrocolloid dressing which is readily available in stores and show you a few uses for the product.

Nexcare - Acne Care Patch.

17 September 2013
We all get spots, for some, it's so much worse than others but the bottom line is no one likes them and everyone wants them to go away as quickly as they pop up. Today I want to give my opinion on a new (to me at least) way of dealing with them.

Saturday Sample.

14 September 2013
It's Saturday and time for another sample review!

Mirenesse is a pretty popular brand, personally I have been both blown away and so horribly dissapointed with their products which is why I will happily take the oportunity to sample their products.

Libra - Hotties Heat Patch.

11 September 2013
Period pain, if you've ever had it, sever or mild, you know how uncomfortable and even debilitating it can be. I have had many days spent in bed with a hot water bottle and even more on my feet, at work, doped up on codeine based painkillers and still struggling to stand upright. My preferred treatment for mild cramps is heat, when it's severe I take pain killers but if I'm able, I will still carry around a hot water bottle, it seems to do something that pain killers can't, maybe it's just a soothing thing that I have associated with feeling better but it's always the first thing I go for when the Satan spawn cramps creep up.

Getting To Know Me Tag.

9 September 2013
The wonderful Lady S over at ladysapphireblog has so kindly tagged me in the 'Getting to know me' tag and I'll so happily oblige because I want my readers to get to know me too, so without further rambling lets get in to it!

Lady S asks...

What's your favourite way to style your hair?
I always wear my hair down, I have image issues with my ears (they stick out and not evenly, one more than the other! Idiot ears), I tend to go for straight or if i have time up my sleeve I love me some curls!

What's the one movie you could re-watch over and over again?
This is a tough one because I love to re-watch movies all the time, if I had to choose one it would probably be Step Brothers, never fails to make me laugh out loud.

Do you have any pets? I wanna hear all about them!
Yes, many pets! I have a cat, her name is Little, she's a tortoiseshell/white mix. She's demanding, likes to come in and out all night long and will meow at the door for hours until you do as she tells you.
I also have 2 Rainbow Lorikeets, Max and Jessie (we assume Max is a boy and Jessie is a girl but to be sure they have to be DNA sexed and we don't have the heart to pluck feathers to find out). Max has been with us for almost a year and Jessie is still a baby, we've not even had her for 2 weeks. I believe it was love at first sight for these two, Max won't let anyone near her when we allow them to be together and he runs around all puffed up and throws his toys around to show off. Jessie is just lovely compared to Max who loves to bite and terrorise people, while we are still hand training Jessie it's so nice to know that you won't leave the encounter with holes in your skin. Max is a big talker, his current favourite phrases are 'hello', 'give me a cuddle', 'stop it', 'want some food?' and 'give me a kiss' followed by a kissing noise but that's not the limit of his vocabulary.
Finally I have Drew, a chocolate Labrador, he's HUGE! Currently in the hospital after having a seriously unfortunate accident which threatened his life, he's making a good recovery but not out of the woods yet. Silly boy likes to jump and we believe he caught his boy bit on a cast iron chair outside and has done some very serious damage. He will survive it, but may lose some/all of his..willy (for want of a better word).
Oh and I should add that the cat and birds get along fantastically.

What's on your nails right now? Nothing.. What polish is due to be applied next?
They look so horrendously disgusting right now. I applied a Sally Hanson polish about a week ago and with all the stress of the dog and working more hours to pay for his care I have neglected them. The polish started to chip and lift so I would pick at it when I was tense and some of my nails broke because I've been working outdoors with my hands a lot... Anyway, a picture tells a thousand word and since I'm trying to be open here I think you just need to see the state I've allowed them to become.

I'll be doing my nails... at some stage lol, I'll be going for Rimmel Brit Manicure in English Rose because the longevity is fantastic and I won't have to worry about them looking so shabby.

What's your favourite thing about blogging?
Blogging is my escape from the daily grind, people who are around me on a regular basis have seen how important blogging is to me and in turn have given me peace and quite while I'm doing it, I cherish the space that I get when I'm blogging and it helps me to really open up about how I feel about products, companies and the industry. Not only do I get to forget about the drama of life but I also get to play with and write about beauty products, what isn't there to love!?!

Since it is almost midnight and I'd really like to get this up before bed I'm not going to tag anyone specifically but if you are reading this and you are a blogger please consider yourself tagged, even if you've done it before! If you aren't a blogger but you're in a sharing mood, feel free to answer my questions down in the comments!

What I'd like to know..
Are you in love? Tell me the story of how you met.
What is the first thing you notice about new people you meet?
What is your favourite smell?
What is your favourite place in the whole wide world? (Apart from home, because we all know that's where the heart really is)
Do you have any special talents?

All Products were purchased by myself and I'm in no way affiliated with any of the companies mentioned unless otherwise stated. Links provided are for shopping examples only, I have personally purchased from some (not all) of these online stores but I highly recommend researching before buying.

Clear Scalp & Hair Beauty Therapy - Total Nourishing Care S&C.

5 September 2013
So anyone who follows beauty trends, reads beauty blogs or frequents on beauty sites will most likely have read something about the Clear Scalp & Hair range. They offered samples for a 7 day challenge and since I'm on a spending ban and keen to try new hair products I applied for the samples. They arrived weeks later, long enough for me to forget about it.

Fuli Eyelash Clip.

3 September 2013
I apply fake lashes a lot, both to myself and clients. I don't find it really difficult applying on other people but applying them on myself is another story.
The story goes like this.. I decide to try out a new set of lashes I purchased, application goes great, they look awesome and I vow to wear them more often. Next time I try to apply them I either glue my eyes closed or get it on my lid so much that I glue them open. I vow to never wear them again and a few weeks later I repeat the cycle.

August 2013 Collective Haul.

30 August 2013
This month wasn't supposed to be much for shopping, project pan has me limited but these limitations have actually led me to finally get another purchases out of the way which I know wouldn't have happened if I wasn't forcing myself not to buy non essential beauty items. Read after the jump to see my small haul of August.

2013 Project Pan Update #1.

I have been struggling. Struggling with wanting products but realising that I can't afford them and have way too much as it is.

Spending bans aren't my thing, but working towards a goal with set rules is right down my alley. After reading 3 of Mary's (from Made in Marcelle) Project Pan posts I decided this was what I needed to do.

This or That Tag.

25 August 2013
I first spotted this tag on Kerri's lovely blog Beauty and Things and I enjoyed reading it so much that I decided to do it myself, I changed it up a bit to suit Aussie readers ;) So read on if you'd like to know a little more about me.

Saturday Sample.

24 August 2013
So I'm back with another Saturday Sample, I've been trying to finish off almost empty stuff recently so samples have been put to the wayside but I've been meaning to try today's sample for a long time so without further ado.. (Warning.. If you don't like feet you might prefer to avoid this, no pictures but still might be a bit much for you)

Lust Have It July 2013 - Prize!

19 August 2013
This box was sent to me courtesy of Lust Have It and Nalini over at themaidupmaiden.com who hosted a competition giving away 10 boxes, one of which I was lucky enough to receive! Big thank you to Lust Have it and Nalini for reawakening a monster that I had managed to suppress for a long time haha!

Olay Regenerist Advanced Cleansing System.

16 August 2013
Beauty bloggers around the globe raved about the Clarisonic and now they are raving about the Olay Regenerist Advanced Cleansing System. With 1 sold every 3 minutes in the US they are a very popular addition to the market.

If you're looking for the update it is at the end of this post.

Since Clarisonic's hit the market I've wanted one and I'm the type of person who would splurge on one, I don't have a problem in the world when it comes to spending money on products that work even if it meant going without something else but as life would have it, other things got in the way of me having one.. Bills, car problems, study equipment, family needing help, etc, etc, there was always something that stopped me from finally getting my hands on one. You can imagine how frustrating this was when this pattern continued (and is still continuing) to this day. Then Olay released this cleansing system in Australia and Priceline had a 40% off sale, I also had a Priceline rewards voucher and the kit cost me only $11.25. It was meant to be don't you think? I do and I'm extremely happy that it played out this way.

So I'm going to offer my 2 cents worth on this product. It's not a glowing review but it's not really bad either, it's reflective of my experience using this product over the last 2 weeks. This is a long post, if you are interested in reading it I suggest grabbing a cuppa first.

Repairing Glazed Pressed Powders.

14 August 2013
For anyone who has hit pan on a pressed powder product like eye shadow, blush or face powder you have likely also encountered this:

Soap & Glory - Supereyes.

8 August 2013
Last month I took a look at these Soap & Glory products. One was pretty crap and the other was kind of ok. I have another S&G product in my arsenal which I'm going to review today.

S&G Supereyes.. I'm a bit crazy for eye creams. Once upon a time I would just use my face moisturiser but my skin has decided to show it's age so I placate it with an expensive eye cream and a plethora of backup products, hence the decision to buy this product when I didn't actually need it.

Indeed Laboratories - Hydraluron.

5 August 2013
It's not often that I will give the Holy Grail title to a product, in fact I'm a firm believer that there is always something better out there and that probably applies with this product, but right now, with my skin looking the way it does, you'd be damn hard pressed to get me to try something new in this products place.

Saturday Sample.

3 August 2013
Right lets take a little lookie loo at a primer that has been out for ages, is quite well known and also popular. Then I'll poke some holes in it!

Empty! July 2013.

1 August 2013
Ahhh the sweet satisfaction of finishing a product. And occasionally the horrible feeling of tossing a product that just doesn't do it for you.

July Collective Haul.

31 July 2013
Today we bid July Goodbye and prepare to say hello to August and the last month of winter.

July was not much of a shopping month for me and I've been tossing up with the idea of going on a spending ban but I just don't like the thought of that, makes me feel like I'm irresponsible with money and have no self control, which I personally think I have a lot of. Instead I'm thinking I might do a project pan, I think that will suit me better because I get such crazy satisfaction from finishing a product.

Beauty Breakdown - Corrective Contouring & Highlighting.

30 July 2013
Last week I discussed face shapes (post here) and I told you that knowing your face shape can be important for product placement, this week I'm going to talk about how you can enhance your face shape with contouring and highlighting.

Saturday Sample

27 July 2013
Time for another Saturday Sample! I'm quite impressed at the rate I'm cleaning out my sample box, usually they just sit there, waiting for me to have a need to use them, which is never. I'm weird like that, I like to have them and especially receive them (nothing better than receiving something in the mail that isn't a bill) but I never find a reason to use them unless I somehow run out of something and don't have a back up. Thanks to this blog they have a purpose now.

Today I'll be taking a quick look at Bellaboo's E Z Zit Blitz Serum.

Bullshit or Brilliant? - Rapid Lash

26 July 2013
For the past 42 days I've been applying Rapid Lash as per the instructions; once (almost) every night before bed. For 28 of those days I have also been applying it to my brows. Did it work? Soon you will see if this product was Bullshit or Brilliant.

Bullshit or Brilliant? - What's to Come..

25 July 2013
When I'm watching tv, flipping through magazines or trawling the internet to kill my boredom and I come across ads for cosmetics or beauty products I tend to do one of two things:
1. Freak out like a complete lunatic and try to work out where I can buy it and what would be the fastest method of attaining the product.
Or
2. Make 'That Face'.

Beauty Breakdown - Identifying Face Shapes.

21 July 2013
My Beauty Breakdown series is going to cover theory, makeup and application from a technical point of view, what I hope to achieve with these posts is educating the reader so that you can better understand your facial features and ultimately what will work best for you.

Saturday Sample.

19 July 2013
Today I'll be taking a look at Avon's Anew Aqua Youth Gel Cream.

Got a whole two uses out of this sachet! Wooo!
Ok sarcasm aside I do think 2 uses is enough to know whether a product will beak you out and if it meets the small requirements like texture, absorption rate and feel of skin after application (these things actually mean a lot to me and can make or break a product).

Product Claims: Lightweight, refreshing gel-cream helps surface skin look and feel hydrated and plumped.

So obviously I didn't use this long enough to see if it was able to produce results but I can tell you that it stinks. Take cheap generic aftershave and cheap generic body wash and mix equal parts in a bowl and have a good whiff. Want more? No, neither do I.

Also this stuff isn't a gel or a cream or what I would consider anything in between. It's a cloudy fluid, thinner than a typical moisturiser but thicker than water. It kind of reminds me of a thin body lotion. My sachet also said to apply day and night but it's clearly marketed as a night cream on their site but they have no day cream  in the range so I dunno.. Inconsistency annoys me.

As for absorption rate, well it's not too bad to be honest, it didn't leave any residue (sticky/oily/revolting) on my skin which is a big plus for me and it didn't cause any breakouts or aggravate the areas of my skin that are already trying to purge their skin demons.

My skin felt hydrated after application but no more than a cheap moisturiser from Priceline would do and I can't agree that my skin looked or felt 'plumped'. At $49.99 a tub I can't say I'd recommend it but they are offering a 3 piece gift set for a limited time for the same cost of this stuff so that's not a bad deal but you'll have to get yourself an Avon representative and that, if you ask me, is a pain in the ass.

Can't say I'm sad that I've finished my little sachet or will be trying to find an Avon rep to buy more. Instead I'll be digging through my sample box to find something new to try out!

What is your opinion of Avon products?

All Products were purchased by myself and I'm in no way affiliated with any of the companies mentioned unless otherwise stated. Links provided are for shopping examples only, I have personally purchased from some (not all) of these online stores but I highly recommend researching before buying.
