Because why not?

Clinique - Almost Lipstick vs Chubby Sticks

6 August 2012
I know everyone is going raving mad for chubby sticks and their dupes these days and I'm a huge fan too but to be perfectly honest I think they look like big fat crayons and although I love to get in touch with my inner child, sometimes I need to whip out a hydrating lip colour that looks sleek and sophisticated.

Here's the deal.. I really dislike thick, drying lip colours. I think there is nothing worse than when a lipstick enhances the appearance of dry lips, builds up on flaky skin or on the corners of your lips. It's not attractive and I won't have it! There are plenty of gorgeous, highly pigmented lip products out there that don't do it and if I make the mistake of buying one that does then it goes in the bin. End of story.

Chubby Sticks.. Why do we love them so much? For me it was a visual thing, perfect for when I would be out for a casual day with friends and the over sized crayon feel was right up my alley, I like silly things, I like novelty and for me every single item I have on me when I'm out is a statement of my personality. When I discovered how well they wear and how beautifully hydrating they are I absolutely fell in love. They are my Holy Grail casual lip colour.

Sometimes I need to present myself in a more professional manner and again, the items I take out with me need to help portray a sophisticated look. Enter the Almost Lipstick range. They are beautifully sleek but don't require me to forsake my personality, the packaging isn't run of the mill and very often I have ladies asking me what I'm applying. The beauty of this range is that they wear just like chubby sticks, they aren't drying and have a pretty, soft gloss finish and best of all, some of the colours are pretty good dupes, Chunky Cherry Chubby Stick and Black Honey Almost Lipstick being one and Whoppin' Watermelon Chubby Stick and Flirty Honey Almost Lipstick which you will see in the following pictures.

Whoppin' Watermelon Chubby Stick and Flirty Honey Almost Lipstick..
Not looking very dupe-ish but wait until you get them on..
Flirty Honey
Whoppin' Watermelon
Have you tried both ranges? What's your opinion?
